TITLE:                         Sr. Reliability Engineer

LOCATION:                  Indianapolis Plant

REPORTS TO:              Maintenance & Reliability Manager

   Primary function

The Reliability Engineer will assume the responsibility to implementing strategies to optimize asset lifecycle, minimize downtime, and improve overall operational efficiency. Additionally, this role will utilize analytics and statistical expertise to enhance asset availability, developing strategically optimized and reliable maintenance plans to augment process capability and increase production capacity.

Efficiently implement advanced predictive maintenance technologies and methodologies to enhance equipment reliability. Employ cutting-edge predictive tools, including vibration analysis, ultrasound, lubrification and infrared thermography, to proactively identify potential issues before they escalate into equipment failures.

Conduct in-depth analyses of equipment reliability and performance data to gain comprehensive insights. Identify potential issues and failure modes through the application of reliability-centered maintenance techniques, ensuring a proactive approach to maintenance. Collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional teams to develop and implement continuous improvement strategies aimed at optimizing overall equipment reliability and performance.

Continuous improvement initiatives, cost-saving measures, digital transformation, optimization of asset lifecycles, downtime reduction, and asset reliability management. The emphasis should be on methodologies, technologies, and strategies related to reliability and maintenance in a manufacturing or industrial setting.

Main deliveries

Business

- Lead and drive continuous improvement projects to elevate the reliability and performance of factory assets and structures. Collaborate seamlessly with cross-functional teams to identify and implement efficiency-driven initiatives, ensuring a holistic approach to enhancement.

Identify opportunities for minimizing downtime through proactive maintenance strategies. Implement predictive maintenance methodologies to address potential issues before they impact day-to-day operations, ensuring uninterrupted productivity.

Define the strategy for activities related to tribology and lubrication, encompassing vibration analysis, thermography, metal corrosion, asset integrity, thermochemical analysis, ultrasonography, and fault diagnosis. Provide leadership to ensure optimal performance in these critical areas.

Analyze existing operational costs with a focus on implementing innovative and effective cost-saving strategies. Ensure resource utilization is maximized without compromising the reliability of operations.

Devise and execute strategies to optimize the lifecycles of factory assets and structures. Collaborate closely with engineering teams to integrate reliability seamlessly into the design and planning phases, ensuring long-term operational efficiency.

Apply Life Cycle Costing methodologies for evaluating the economic life of assets. Enable modernization and reliability projects by making informed decisions based on a thorough understanding of maintenance costs, future resource needs, and potential investment alternatives.

Agility and innovation

Spearhead transformative digital initiatives utilizing the IPS Reliability method for predictive maintenance. Implement state-of-the-art technologies to amplify asset monitoring, performance analysis, and maintenance strategies, fostering a digitally optimized operational environment.

Utilize techniques such as Six Sigma, Applied and Advanced Statistics, Predictive/Proactive Analysis & Tools, RCM, FMEA, FEMECA, WCM Advanced Tools, Weibull Analysis, Analytics tools, artificial intelligence, neural networks, and machine learning for innovation.

Relationships and People upskilling

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to streamline processes and enhance overall efficiency.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance on reliability best practices.
  • Assist Maintenance Sectors and Safety and Environment area in complying with legal requirements.
  • Foster good interpersonal relationships, empathy, team spirit, negotiation, and cooperation.
  • Upskill and mentor team members, promoting a proactive and committed work environment.  

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
