Staff Accountant

About your role:

As a Staff Accountant, you will support the Operational Accounting organization through the monthly financial close process, including preparing and uploading journal entries, completing balance sheet reconciliations, and maintaining accurate supporting documentation. You will analyze, verify, and record financial transactions in accordance with GAAP, while reviewing financial reports and preparing variance analysis as needed.

What you'll do:

  • Prepare journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting schedules to maintain accurate financial records.

  • Support month-end and year-end close activities by analyzing transactions, resolving variances, and meeting reporting deadlines.

  • Review operational processes, identify account risks, and resolve reconciling items within established timelines.

  • Identify process gaps and support improvements that increase efficiency, accuracy, and consistency in accounting operations.

Experience you'll need to have:

  • 3+ years of experience in accounting, finance, or related business operations supporting journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.

  • Experience working with general ledger activity, account analysis, and month-end close processes.

  • Advanced experience using Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPS, pivot tables, macros) and other Microsoft Office tools for financial analysis, documentation, and presentation of accounting conclusions.

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or related field or equivalent combination of education, related experience and/or military experience.

Experience that would be great to have:

  • Experience supporting accounting operations in a large corporate or shared services environment.

  • Experience preparing balance sheet account reconciliations and journal entries.

  • Experience using SAP or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) system for journal entry posting, account inquiry, and reporting.

  • Experience supporting audit requests and compliance documentation.

How you'll work:

  • This role is on-site Monday through Friday in Omaha, NE. Fiserv considers in-person collaboration to be an essential part of this role as in-person office experiences help you with your overall onboarding experience and leads to stronger productivity.
