BASIS Independent McLean is seeking qualified candidates for an On-Campus Substitute Teacher for the 2025-2026 school year.

What We're Looking For

Teachers who are inspired in their approach, and who stretch the boundaries of learning, are typically the most successful. We encourage enthusiasm and support our instructors to demonstrate the thirst for knowledge to our students. We believe that passion is contagious and so we encourage our teachers to be both creative and innovative.

We are looking for teachers that stretch beyond textbook teaching and bring together instruction methods that will ultimately help students delve deeper into a subject.

This position serves as a substitute teacher for multiple subject areas across middle and high school classes. This position is a full-time, on-campus position during regular school hours.

• Able to engage students in rigorous content and well-planned, well-paced lessons

• Skilled in classroom management (high warm and high firm)

• Has excitement, joy and passion for teaching kids and personal development/learning

• Has strong verbal and written communication skills with kids, employees, and parents

• Open to feedback and continuous growth

• Creative in instructional and classroom management strategies

• Cooperative, supportive, flexible

• Well organized

• Has a strong work ethic and “do whatever it takes” mind set

Position Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: All applicants must have a BA or BS degree from an accredited or approved college or university.


Preferred Qualifications: Experience with children is preferred. Together with a high level of personal responsibility and optimism, a successful applicant will demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills, will thrive in a fast-paced, achievement-oriented learning environment, and will be able to stand for long periods of time inside and outside of the building.
