About the role

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of overhead electrical lines and related equipment.
  • Climb poles and use proper safety gear under the supervision of a higher-class lineman.
  • String wire, install hardware, transformers, and other system components under supervision.
  • Operate and maintain tools and equipment such as line trucks, aerial lifts, hand tools, and power tools.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Follow all safety policies, procedures, and OSHA regulations.
  • Perform groundman duties as required including handling tools, materials, and equipment.
  • Assist with emergency and storm restoration work as required (often outside regular hours).
  • Learn and adhere to company and industry standards and procedures.
  • Attend training sessions and demonstrate progress in gaining skills required for Lineman B.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Basic understanding of electrical theory and safety procedures.
  • Ability to climb poles using proper equipment.
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools used in line work.
  • Good physical condition; ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in various weather conditions.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from senior personnel.

Working Conditions:

  • Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Exposure to high voltage electricity, heights, and hazardous equipment.
  • On-call availability for emergency repairs and storm response.
  • Physical work that includes climbing, lifting, and carrying heavy materials.
