We are looking for:
The Application Development Labs (ADL) within the Specialty Polymers GBU aims to create a collaborative environment around capabilities such as applications prototyping & testing, advanced melt processing, and virtual engineering.
- In order to fulfill its mission, the team is looking for a motivated processing researcher to work closely with a team of engineers and scientists to develop and evaluate processing methods for various end-use applications.
- This will involve experimental planning, execution, and sample preparation through means of thermoplastic molding, thermoplastic extrusion, elastomer processing, and similar related processing methodologies.

Main responsibilities include:
- Collaborate with ADL engineers and researchers to design and execute experiments and test methods for various products, process development, application/market specific testing, and prototyping activities.
- Executes judgment in resolving issues or in making recommendations.
- Analyzes data, draws conclusions, and communicates effectively both in written and verbal form.
- Collects and manages data, makes calculations, correlations, and conclusions.
- Documents results, enters data into relevant systems, and closes requests in a timely manner.
- Operates thermoplastic and/or elastomer processing equipment independently, reliably, and safely.
- Independently solves routine problems following established procedures.
- Performs basic set-up, troubleshooting, and maintenance of laboratory, process, or fabrication equipment.
- Demonstrates safe laboratory working practices and confidentiality tenets with a focus on continuous improvement.
- Adheres to all Syensqo requirements for safe management of chemicals in the laboratory.
- Participates in safety audits and safety meetings; closes open audit action items in a timely manner.
You will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical, or polymer engineering or equivalent applicable technical degree.
- Experience in a technical position working with polymers: knowledge of polymer physics, material selection, and processing.
- Minimum 2+ years of technical experience performing basic set-up and troubleshooting of processing equipment, preferably in a laboratory setting.
- Experience with thermoplastic molding and/or thermoplastic extrusion equipment. Elastomer processing is a plus.
- Familiarity with polymer processing topics: equipment, theory, typical practices, etc.
