About the role

The Biomedical Engineer is responsible for technical support of the equipment in the Open Heart Surgery suites, CSICU and other Intensive and Critical Care Units including the setting up, maintaining and repairing of the equipment, rendering technical advice and assistance to surgeons, OR staff and nursing personnel. Ensures electrical safety of the equipment for the patient, as well as medical and nursing personnel.

  • Maintains patient care monitoring equipment including Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump subsequent to appropriate vendor training and all other patient related instrumentation.
  • Informs the Biomedical Engineering Department of any defective equipment and participates in repair and maintenance.
  • Orders necessary parts, accessories, and supply items for all related equipment
  • Constantly interacts with outside vendors and the BIMC Engineering Department regarding periodic maintenance, repairs, and closely monitors and coordinates those activities
  • Insures electrical safety and performance of equipment by means of periodic checks and preventive maintenance procedures, and maintains necessary documentation for Federal, State and City regulatory compliance requirements
  • Interacts with outside vendors and the BIMC Engineering Department regarding periodic maintenance, repairs, and closely monitors and coordinates those activities
  • Trains other staff of the Biomedical Engineering Department for cross coverage purposes
  • Other duties as assigned

3 to 5 years of diversified experience in the medical electronics field with exposure to Heart/Lung and/or Balloon Pump technology or closely related training

Compensation Statement

 

The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides salary ranges that comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $65,885.00 - $98,827.00 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and operational need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
