Senior Scientist, Platform Biology

Position Summary:

FL94 is seeking an experienced, innovative, and talented Senior Scientist, Platform Biology to join our growing research team. This position will be responsible for developing novel therapeutic modalities against previously undruggable protein targets. The ideal candidate comes from an industry drug discovery background with strong experience developing cell-based assays and elucidating mechanisms of action. Experience working with induced proximity modalities, like PROTACs, is strongly preferred. 

Successful candidates will be able to thrive in a fast-paced, action-oriented, team environment and display a clear passion for science and impact. The individual will have demonstrated evidence of technical expertise and experience overcoming challenges and moving projects forward with urgency. Experience guiding junior scientists technically and strategically will be important. They will be interested in contributing at the bench and be dedicated to scientific development of themselves and their team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, execute, and interpret studies for validating several high value, unprecedented targets
• Leverage multiple assay platforms to characterize heterobifunctional molecules in biochemical and cell-based assays, including measuring target engagement, ternary complex, and functional/phenotypic readouts
• Serve as both a scientific and strategic leader for project teams with the ability to lead from the bench and guide junior scientists in achieving team goals
• Work collaboratively with cross-functional chemistry, proteomics, drug discovery and AI/machine learning teams
• Ensure rapid and accurate turnaround of data, to agreed timelines, to drive achievement of key project goals
• Maintain accurate and well-organized laboratory records, including lab notebooks, inventories, and databases
• Translate experimental data into meaningful insights, and present research findings in team meetings

Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in Biology, Chemical Biology, or equivalent field with 5+ years of industry experience
• Experience with mammalian cell culture, transfection techniques, and cell-based reporter assays is required
• Experience working with induced proximity technologies, such as PROTACs and molecular glues, is highly preferred
• Demonstrated technical prowess with experience developing, troubleshooting, and running cell-based assays, including endpoint (viability), phenotypic (live cell), and protein quantification assays (western blot, ELISA, HTRF)
• Demonstrated ability to work within highly skilled teams in a fast-paced, quickly evolving technical environment
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying scientific information in a concise and effective manner
