About the role

Job Overview

Serve as the Assistant Baseball Coach.  This positing reports to the Head Baseball Coach. The successful candidate will operate with a committed understanding that in the pursuit of athletic excellence we also seek to develop students for Christian life and service.  

 

Duties and Responsibilities

 

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Coaching Leadership 
    • Assist baseball coaching staff in practice planning, instructing, and reviewing practice video
    • Assist baseball coaching staff in game preparations
    • Comply with the mission and vision of Wheaton College; adhere to all College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin and NCAA rules and regulations
    • Assist in scouting of opponents and preparation of scouting reports to team

 

Secondary Responsibilities

  1. Spiritual Leadership
    • Encourage and develop personal relationships with student-athletes
    • Encourage a holistic environment for the well-being of student-athletes
    • Serve as a consistent role model and resource for student-athletes
  2. Administrative Leadership
    • Assist the head coach in administrative duties as needed
    • Assist head coach in all aspects of the recruiting process including evaluation of prospects, visit coordination, and ongoing recruiting communication (i.e. calls/texts/mailings)

 

This job description is intended to represent key areas of responsibilities; specific assignments may vary from time to time depending on the operational needs of the department.

  Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree; 
  • 3-5 years collegiate playing experience; 
  • Ability to motivate and inspire student-athletes on and off of the Baseball field; 
  • Excellent communication skills; 
  • A commitment to the values of NCAA Division III athletics and Christ-centered education; 
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Competency in MSOffice computer programs

 

Physical Requirements

The person in this position must be able to drive/transport athletes; set up and take down baseball equipment; and lift, move, and carry up to 25lbs.

 

FLSA Status ‐ Part-Time Exempt – (0.25 FTE status)
