About the role

This job post is for a future opening as a seasonal Senior Accessibility Specialist.
We typically provide anticipated start dates for our roles, but because this is a future opening, we don't have one yet. We are, however, currently seeking applications from qualified and interested individuals and will follow up once we're ready to begin our interview process. For Coforma and our partners, Accessibility Specialists are the experts who ensure all the tools within client systems and platforms meet Section 508 and WCAG 2.1+ standards, at a minimum. In this role, you’ll use your passion for inclusive design to help us fulfill our goal of exceeding U.S. accessibility standards across a variety of digital deliverables, in partnership with our clients. You’ll showcase your expertise and passion for finding innovative accessibility solutions for all users, pushing beyond the status quo. You’ll demonstrate continual learning while being an advocate and champion for accessibility. You will work within the Design department, reporting to senior Design leadership to assess the accessibility of designs and coded interfaces, make informed recommendations, and perform quality assurance of solutions within assigned projects.

$147,290 to $165,830 Salary + Benefits + Growth PotentialPlacement within this range will be based on the competency level of the candidate An offer will be made at one of the following tiers:
Tier 1: $147,290 — Meets minimum qualification/experience requirements. Beyond onboarding, will need additional guidance and training to perform key responsibilities of the role.Tier 2: $156,560 — Experienced and fully-competent. Beyond onboarding, can independently perform key responsibilities of the role.Tier 3: $165,830 — Highly-experienced and can perform all responsibilities of the role at a higher level than expected once onboarding is completed.
To honor our company-wide equitable pay system, the posted salary range and corresponding tier salaries are non-negotiable.
This is a US-based remote position (open to applicants in select states listed below) and some travel may be required.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)

  • You'll help create accessible solutions that are inclusive to people of all abilities, staying up-to-date on accessibility standards and assistive technologies. You'll lead and participate in the following activities on assigned client projects:
  • Review low-fidelity and high-fidelity prototypes as well as developed code, assessing accessibility issues and proposing remediation tactics. Discuss recommendations with stakeholders to help ensure proper implementation. Document the accessibility validation process so future team members can trace a decision and understand why a design choice was made.
  • Participate in research with users of assistive technologies to help ensure usability across a variety of abilities and scenarios.
  • Validate code using standard automated and manual methods, including mobile testing.
  • Contribute to documentation, policies, and guidelines that adhere to and push forward common accessibility best practices to help client teams make accessible choices for their products and services. Partner with client teams to help them understand and implement the materials.
  • Evaluate products and services for WCAG 2.2 compliance and develop related recommendations.
  • Collaborate with other accessibility specialists to foster a culture in which accessibility is as easy and painless as possible.

Within Coforma, you will:

  • Show up as an accessibility leader, leading discussions and training others in accessibility best practices and techniques.
  • Coach and mentor peers on accessibility best practices, resources, and case studies.
  • Help write accessibility language for Coforma responses to Requests for Information (RFIs), Requests for Quotes and Proposals (RFQs and RFPs), contract extensions, and modifications, as requested.
