Job Description

We are:

 

The Pharmacy Department uses a multidisciplinary approach to patient care, where the emphasis is on therapeutic efficacy and safety. We provide comprehensive, clinical, and dispensing services. The department has one of the most robust sets of electronic clinical resources in the country and a dynamic medication safety program.

 

Across the Center, we review 1.5 million orders per year and dispense over three million doses of medication annually. The Pharmacy Department has more than 450 employees, with approximately 300 pharmacists servicing patients in 26 pharmacy satellites, including inpatient unit-based satellites in all oncological specialties.

 

Memorial Sloan Kettering provides free, live, onsite, accredited continuing education pharmacy courses to help keep your credentials up to date. The department will also sponsor national and state membership for pharmacy organizations and appropriate off-site educational meetings. We are seeking a Pharmacist to join the R5 Pharmacy team at Main Campus as a Adult Investigational Clinical Coordinator.

 

You will:

  • Act as the central resource person for all Adult investigational related activities
  • Control all aspects of investigational drug inventory management
    • Review of on-site med supply and re-order to ensure adequate supply for current and new patients
    • QA of received meds
    • Review and coordinate inventory for soon-to-expire meds
    • Ensure inventory is performed and resolve any discrepancies in Vestigo
  • Attend site initiation visits
  • Review and coordinate documentation for monitor visits and audits
  • Coordinate and attend monitor visits
  • Train local staff on all research related components including lab requirements, verification, compounding and dispensing
  • Attend research and operation meetings
  • Assist in the initiation, planning, and implementation of new projects, programs or improvements in workflows
  • Have a good understanding of the Adult Chemo operations at Main Campus, and regional locations
  • Support operational staffing
  • Provide support for some of the adult pharmacy operations as needed.

 

You are:

  • Highly motivated and able to multi-task, and work well with others in a demanding environment
  • Able to adopt a culture centered around patient safety and cleanroom sterility (USP 797 & USP 800)
  • Able to make sound judgements even with incomplete information
  • Meticulous and systematic in record keeping and inventory management
  • Able to suggest changes to workflow to improve patient care
  • Someone with a strong sense of ownership and willingness to learn in an empowering environment
  • Someone with a substantial understanding of computer and pharmacy systems
  • Someone with a supportive attitude towards others’ beliefs and ideas

 

You have:

  • Valid NY Pharmacist license
  • Pharm.D (or equivalent)
  • Prior hospital pharmacy, chemotherapy, and research experience strongly preferred
  • Strong computer skills and the ability to develop a good understanding of pharmacy system
