About the role
We are seeking a full-time, Class A Driver for our distribution center in Dunn, NC. Responsibilities for this position include delivers products to customers and picks up and backhauls products from vendors and other sources. The Truck Driver exhibits professional and courteous behavior at all times driving on the road as well as in dealing with customers. In addition, this position may assist with warehouse duties as needed.
Essential Functions:
- Operate vehicle in a safe manner at all times and in accordance with all local, state and federal regulations
- Deliver product to customers driving Company vehicles and hauling trailers in a variety of traffic, weather and terrain conditions
- Tie down loads securely using straps or ropes
- Tarp loads and install chains on tires in the event of inclement weather
- Pickup and backhaul product from vendors and other sources
- Verify load for accuracy
- Inspect delivery sites to ensure safe environment to load/unload
- Load and unload vehicle and trailer
- Obtain customer signature on bill of lading
- Pick up customer returns with proper authorization and documentation
- Communicate regularly with dispatcher to ensure timely deliveries and pickups
- Establish and maintain a professional and positive working relationship with customers and assist customers with inquiries or information in resolving any customer questions or concerns
- Provide feedback to supervisor regarding customer service, product, deliver expectation and any other issues and/or concerns
- Refuel vehicle at designated locations
- Maintain neat and clean Company vehicles and trailers
- Adhere to DOT regulations and other state and federal regulatory requirements, including completing driver’s log with accurate times and stops and submitting log to the office
- Perform vehicle safety and inspection checks and complete Drivers’ Vehicle Condition report at the start of each shift
- Report maintenance, repair or safety needs or concerns to supervisor
- Attend safety and other required drivers’ meetings
- Maintain a satisfactory driving record
- Notify supervisor immediately of any accidents, damage or traffic violations and complete and submit any necessary reports and documentation
- Performs warehouse work and other duties as required and requested
