OnsiteCollins Aerospace is looking for a talented Senior Software Engineer to join our team. This position supports the Open Communication Systems (OCS) product area within the Mission Systems strategic business unit of Collins Aerospace, a Raytheon Technologies business. OCS provides secure processing platforms and capabilities to both domestic and international customers. This specific position will provide software development and support to a growing product line within the mission area.
This position is eligible for relocation assistance.
Responsibilities:
• Participation on collaborative cross-disciplined integrated product teams
• Employing agile software development techniques and tools to plan, design, develop, test, and integrate complex software and systems solutions
• Span the full lifecycle of product development, from architecture and design through integration, test, and product support
• Designing, developing, and testing software solutions that meet technical requirements within cost and schedule constraints
• Becoming familiar with existing software solutions for the product line, implement new software capabilities, and integrate, test, and deploy software to support program requirements
• Collaborate within a dynamic software team
• Effectively communicate software approach, constraints, and design/implementation rationale to varied audiences including program leadership and multidisciplined engineering teams
• Implement the technical solution, perform thorough testing, integrate and deploy with the system, and demonstrate the software capabilities
Qualifications/Experience Needed:
• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience
• Experience in Software Engineering to include experience working various phases of the software development lifecycle.
• Experience with software development using C, C++, or Python
• Experience working in a collaborative team environment that includes communication with other engineering, program, and external stakeholders
• Familiarity with agile lifecycle process including scrum, continuous integration/continuous deployment, or test-driven development methodologies
• Good written, verbal and presentation skills. Ability to document and effectively communicate software approach, constraints, design and rationale to various audiences
Self-starter, showing initiative to research and resolve complex problems
• Active SECRET Security Clearance or higher REQUIRED
Security Clearance:
• Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
• Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Working knowledge of Linux, VxWorks or other real-time operating systems
• Embedded software development experience (direct control of hardware devices and registers)
• Experience with software integration on custom hardware
• Experience with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) tools such as Cameo, MagicDraw, or Rhapsody
• Understanding of standard systems engineering design artifacts such as use cases and Systems Modeling Language (SysML) diagrams such as activity, sequence, and state machine diagrams
• Experience with containerized application tools such as Docker, Kubernetes, or Helm charts
• Experience with code quality and analysis tools such as Clang, Coverity, Fortify, Lint, SonarQube, or Valgrind
• Ability to work across disciplines to deliver balanced approach to resolve technical issues
• Demonstrated technical leadership of small projects, teams, or processes
• Ability to analyze, debug, and improve existing source code, and trouble-shoot test equipment
