Position Summary:  

The Senior HR Generalist will be accountable for facilitating and executing company HR policies and programs, talent management, HR strategy, and employee relations in support of the overall business objectives of the organization and the Global HR team.

 

The Senior HR Generalist will serve as a business partner with operations management to develop and implement positive culture building programs, supervisor and employee training, manage statewide grants for employee career development opportunities and monthly HR operational reporting. Provides guidance to operations management on policy, Federal, State, and local laws and regulations and corrective actions.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a key member of HR Team and provides business support which aligns with HR best practices and company objectives. 
  • Working with the HR Director, assist in leading the site’s Human Resources function, ensuring accurate interpretation and administration of HR policies and programs and engages in the day- to-day Human Resources functions, specifically related to but not limited to employee and labor relations, HR processes, rewards & recognition, talent management, and workforce planning. 
  • Drive performance- based culture with the operations management team and work closely with the HR Director to assess culture needs and develop and execute effective culture programs.
  • Work closely with the Operations Management team to review 30,60,90 day employee evaluations, training matrices and ongoing training needs within the production floor.    
  • Manage the union grievance process by working closely with the operations management team and the union.
  • Manage the hourly and entry level management talent acquisition and recruitment efforts. 
  • Build and foster an effective working relationship with employees, supervisors, managers, leadership team, and HR Team. 
  • Manage the Apprenticeship program in conjunction with Grand Rapids Community College and the Apprenticeship Committee.
  • Manage the Joint Training Committee with the union and actively provide training solutions for production employees.
  • Provide coaching, change management support, and guide managers and employees through action or influence to support career development, business decision making, and performance management. 
  • Maintains collaborative partnerships with Global HR Team for effectiveness and may lead specialized projects and/or services. 
  • Administer compliance with all state and federal laws and regulations for employment law including but not limited to labor, compensation, EEO and ADA, and affirmative action planning. 
  • Promote a positive work environment through communications and maintain the highest degree of confidentiality and integrity; manage sensitive issues, anticipate, and resolve matters expeditiously and discretely. 

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s preferred) in Human Resources or similar discipline as Business Administration with 7+ years HR experience. 
  • 3+ years of supporting a union environment.
  • Understanding of Federal labor law and compliance.  
  • Ability to develop relationships and influence at all levels of the organization.
