About the Role:

We are looking for a Materials Planner to join our growing team at our Chicago site. This individual will be responsible for the release and expediting of all raw and/or packing materials in a timely manner.  This individual will be responsible for materials inventory, to run the production schedule and to practice and manage inventory control policies and procedures that contribute to the fiscally responsible use of finished goods and to ensure accurate and consistent inventory processes to support optimal customer order fill.

Main Responsibilities:

•    Oversee all materials ordering, confirm and process orders through SAP for raw materials to support production requirements; assign purchase orders to requisitions

•    Verify and correct invoices not matching items and prices stated in POs

•    Maintain inventories at lowest dollar levels while ensuring material availability to meet production schedule, confirm pricing and raw material availability 

•    Assist in correcting bill of materials

•    Document and escalate supplier issues / non-conformance

•    Assist in resolving material quality issues 

•    Act as liaison between vendors, plant, and division in resolving material problems and creating proper notifications

•    Provide releasing, tracking, and expediting materials to meet production requirements

•    Shared responsibility with Operations for schedule adherence and service rate

•    Insure incoming materials have been scanned into the inventory management system

•    Drive FIFO process

•    Provide input in the Daily Planning Meeting

•    Responsible for compliance with all regulations. Food Safety – plant in proper sanitary condition at all times, including allergen control, pest control, guidelines followed. Compliance with food safety policies and procedures

•    Ensure achievement of all area / shift KPIs; ensure adherence to and continuous improvement of all area / shift elements

•    Responsible for inventory accuracy (raw, packaging, finished goods)

•    Cycle counts & physical inventory (daily, weekly, monthly)

•    Coordination with Production Scheduling and Product Availability 

•    Review quality, damaged, and liquidated product status

•    Manage / Conduct daily (end run) and quarterly cycle counts for finished goods

Who we are looking for:

•    Bachelors degree and 2 years of related experience OR High School diploma/GED and 5 years of related experience

•    Effective communication (both written and verbal), interpersonal skills, and ability to manage complex situations are required

•    Experience with SAP and applicable inventory location system is preferred
