The Pavilion at McLean Hospital is the premiere residential program in the country providing comprehensive diagnostic evaluations for adults with complex, treatment resistant psychiatric illnesses.
40 Hours with every other weekend required.


 

Job Summary

Summary<br>Utilizing the nursing process, responsibility for providing for immediate and long-term nursing care needs of patients within the standards of the department, hospital and regulatory agencies.<br><br>Does this position require Patient Care?<br>Yes<br><br>Essential Functions<br>-Accurately assesses patients’ needs. <br>
-1 Utilizes multiple data sources to determine actual/potential health problems and functional status. <br>
-Utilizes Recovery Oriented Framework to identify patient strengths. <br>
-2 Performs point of care testing. <br>
-3 Communicates findings effectively to members of the healthcare team. <br>
-4 Documentation reflects response to intervention, demonstrates an understanding of patients’ response to treatment interventions. <br>
-5 Identifies patient behaviors that contribute to the development of a crisis; utilizes non-verbal and verbal techniques to de-escalate crisis situation. <br>
-Accurately plans nursing interventions for assigned patients. <br>
-1 Modifies and individualizes Nursing Plan of Care and protocols. <br>
-2 Participates in the development of the multidisciplinary treatment plan. <br>
-3 Demonstrates ability to prioritize patient care needs. <br>
-4 Partners with patients/families to support recovery goals. <br>
-Provides and implements nursing care interventions. <br>
-1 Establishes a therapeutic alliance with assigned patients. <br>
-2 Demonstrates safe, accurate and timely medication administration using BMV scanning. <br>
-3 Reviews physician orders in a timely manner. <br>
-4 Promotes interventions that provide the least-restrictive alternatives and recovery oriented goals. <br>
-5 Participates in leading patient groups. <br>
-Accurately evaluates the effectiveness of nursing care interventions. <br>
-1 Documentation on the Nursing Plan of Care, protocols, and Assessment Flowsheet reflects response to intervention, demonstrates an understanding of patients’ response to treatment interventions. <br>
-2 Accurately communicates patients’ clinical status at clinical team rounds and change of shift reports. <br>
-3 Utilizes evidence based nursing knowledge to guide practice decisions. <br>
-Provides a leadership role in organizing and providing patient care. <br>
-1 Provides direction and supervision of MHSs. <br>
-Delegate care interventions. <br>
-2 Assumes a leadership role in medical and psychiatric emergencies. <br>
-3 Promotes/provides for critical incident de-briefing following emergency event. <br>
-4 Anticipates acute milieu problems and delegates staff appropriately. <br>
-5 Participates in the training and education of RNs, MHSs, and other healthcare providers. <br>
-Provides for teaching needs of patient and significant others. <br>
-1 Provides health teaching related to patient needs and recovery goals. <br>
-2 Documents teaching in the patient’s record. <br>
-3 Informs treatment team of patient and significant others’ learning needs. <br>
-Maintains a commitment to professional growth and competency. <br>
-1 Completes mandatory in-service requirements. <br>
-2 Maintains competency for treating patient population. <br>
-3 Seeks constructive feedback regarding work performance from peers and professional colleagues. <br>
