JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:
Jefferson County’s Public Affairs team is seeking a digital content intern to support efforts in optimizing the county website and related digital assets. This role will provide support in content strategy, SEO, digital accessibility and user experience. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, tech-savvy and interesting in making government communications clearer, more accessible and user friendly.
SCHEDULE:
This position will work 20 hours per week starting as soon as possible. This position is hybrid, primarily operating in person with some remote work flexibility.
COMPENSATION:
Hiring Range: $18-$21 USD Hourly
Compensation will be determined based on education, experience and skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Assist with web content audits and identify gaps, outdated information and opportunities for consolidation.
Conduct keyword research to optimize web pages.
Use QA tools (e.g., Siteimprove) to scan for and correct accessibility issues.
Leverage qualitative and quantitative analytics to map core user paths and recommend UX improvements.
Audit current site navigation structure for clarity and findability.
Design document templates that meet brand and accessibility standards.
Participate in monthly web contributor meetings and other meetings with key stakeholders and web content contributors.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High School diploma or equivalent certifications. Seeking a degree in a related field such as Communications, Public Affairs, communications, Public Health Digital/Graphic Design, English, Journalism, or similar field.
