Job Overview

 

The Legal Counsel IS/IT is a middle-level counsel and reports directly to a Group Legal Manager in the Group Legal Operations Team of Plastic Omnium.

 

Under the supervision of the Group Legal Manager. The Legal Counsel IS/IT:

 

  • Assist Purchasing IS&IT and operational Digital & IS teams, in the drafting, revising, and negotiating contracts with software editors, IT services suppliers.
  • Calls for tender: analysis of calls for tender, monitoring and management of legal negotiations, preparation of contractual documents, support for teams.
  • Contribute to the synthesis of operational legal issues, commercial transactions, intellectual property and data that arise for Plastic Omnium.
  • Assist in a way that Plastic Omnium always operates within the law.
  • Facilitate business strategies development by providing options and clarity under the law
  • Limit legal and contractual risk exposure (Pre-litigation and litigation : case management and monitoring)

 

Primary Responsibilities and Activities


Under the supervision of the Group Legal Manager, the Legal Counsel IS/IT:

 

  • Address in French and English legal and contractual risks, covering all the traditional areas of the function of a Legal Counsel:
    • Contracts in French & English, Partnerships.
    • Advise and recommendation on matters related to Competition/Commercial Law - Intellectual Property - Litigation & Dispute Resolution - Bankruptcy Laws 
  • Position yourself as a Business Partner of Digital & IS function in order to contribute to the strategic objectives and decisions, by providing high-quality, proactive, business-oriented legal support.
  • Assist proactively in the implementation of the legal documentation, in monitoring internal policies and in the development of legal awareness within the Plastic Omnium Digital & IS function:
    • Review and draft standard documents, templates & internal policies in French and English 
    • Define and conduct training in French and English in order to implement internal policies and develop legal awareness.
    • Develop and continuously improve knowledge and expertise in key areas of law that are central to the achievement Digital&IS strategy.
  • Be a team member and a project manager:
    • Interact constantly as a team player with the reporting Group Legal Manager and the Legal Operations Team to be fully aligned with the Group Legal Department strategy.
    • Analyse the tools at the disposal of the business stakeholders, propose updates, improvements, tools (templates, memos, trainings, archiving)

 

Primary Work Arrangements

 

  • This position is part of the Group Legal Group.

  • He/she reports directly to the Group Legal Manager, based in Levallois-Perret (France, 92) and functionally to Director of Digital Transformation Office.
     


 

 

Background and requiered skills

 

  • Master’s degree in IT Law or Business law (commercial, contract, international) from a reputed Law university
  • A LL.M or a business school diploma is a plus. 
  • 5-7 years of experience in a law firm specialized in IT Law or in the legal department of an international company of their IT and digital Sector.
  • Experience in France. Experience abroad is a plus.
  • Fluency in English and French, verbally & in writing. 
  • Understanding and exposure to a multi-cultural working environment
  • Organized, team spirit, high integrity & eth
