Operations Manager - Electrical Distribution Division

POSITION SUMMARY

MEPPI's Electrical Distribution Division (EDD) is looking for an Operations Manager to manage the production, manufacturing, purchasing, and material planning, functions for the division with emphasis on safely delivering high quality products that meet customer requirements and commitments and maintaining positive employee relations.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Lead the Operations Department for production, scheduling, manufacturing, material planning and logistics of EDD products to meet customer commitments. Manage all activities with an emphasis on safety, positive employee relations, efficiency and quality.
• Oversee the production activities to attain production goals consistent with cost, quality, safety, delivery requirements, and customer commitments. Expedite the resolution of safety, design, quality, process, and component availability problems.
• Oversee the purchasing activities with a focus on inventory efficiency, production support, total cost and overall supply base performance. Review and sign invoices and purchase orders within the corporate Limits of Authority.
• Support the review and disposition of MRRs, as required.
• Review the results of cycle counts and annual physical count of inventory and recommend improvements when needed.
• Operate the division Foreign Trade Zone within the Operations Department.
• Manage the Operations staff according to Company policies and procedures to effectively achieve Company and Department objectives. Develop employees by training, cross training, and providing continuing education opportunities. Conduct performance reviews and provide input for salary decisions.
• Support the division Safety Coordinator and the corporate EHS Manager in executing Division and company-level safety programs.
• Support the productivity improvement function in implementing JIT/Kaizen programs to improve efficiencies.
• Support equipment repairs, including transportation, storage, and factory resources for tear-down, investigation, customer witness, and repair.
• Operate in accordance with the shop wage programs, including the testing of employees for skill increments.
• Prepare weekly and monthly production reports, as required.
• Prepare and manage the Operations Department operating and capital budgets.
• Further the goals and positive, professional image of the Company by conducting business with other MEPPI departments, visitors, and callers in a timely and cooperative manner.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's Degree in business or engineering discipline with a minimum 10 years of experience in a manufacturing environment and a minimum years of management experience, or equivalent education and experience.
• Advanced knowledge of manufacturing made-to-order products and inventory management.
• Basic knowledge of gas-insulated circuit breakers or related technology.
• Advanced interpersonal, communication and presentation skills required to communicate with employees, vendors and customers.
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Advanced computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office products and business systems.
