About You and this Role
The Dow Industrial Solutions (DIS) business has an exciting opportunity for an Improvement Manager to join the DIS technology Center and serves as a core member of the business’s Hazardous Organic NESHAP (HON) Compliance Program Implementation team. This team has the primary responsibility to implement required improvements at Dow's 10 DIS manufacturing facilities that are governed by the HON regulation to comply with the new regulation. The program spans multiple process technologies (Ethylene Oxide, Glycol Ethers, and Amines) at multiple sites (Plaquemine, Saint Charles, Seadrift, & Freeport). This will be a fast paced, highly visible initiative as the improvements are required to ensure our right to operate these key business assets and preserve an estimated $2.4B of value generated.
As a member of the HON Compliance Program Implementation team, your core responsibility will be to verify gaps in our facilities versus the new regulation, work with the local plant team & Tech Center SMEs to define the best solution to close the gap and then serve as the primary focal point working with Dow's Technical Expertise & Support (TES) project team. You will fill the role of Manufacturing Representative on capital projects that will implement the gap closure solutions you identify. In your role as Manufacturing Representative, you will have accountability for the project through start-up & commissioning. You will have to work closely with local plant resources (Improvement Engineers & Tech Advisors / Operators).

You are a self-motivated and self-directed individual that requires minimal supervision. You work well with others as you are a key member of a multi-functional, cross geographical, culturally diverse project team with a common goal to deliver a best-in-class manufacturing facility on time and on budget. You are a courageous leader serving as the champion for safe, reliable operation of equipment and the process during process design phase of the project.
Responsibilities
- Leads the development and completion of technology plans supporting business goal for a minimum cost compliance program.
- Provides coaching and direction on goals and plans for Improvement Engineers.
- Ensures validation of project performance objectives after implementation
- Ensures implementation of the best technology in the project by integrating operability input from plant operations, Most Effective Technology (MET) from the Technology Center, and Maintenance and Reliability inputs into definition and design.
- Carries accountability for the technical integrity and operability of the final facility. Ensures effective interface between the manufacturing representative and plant operations to ensure technical integrity and optimum operability.
- Provides effective communication and coordination between project team and Operations.
- Implements Functional Input and Evaluation process. Implements Scope and Criteria Management.
Qualifications
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in engineering
- A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience (i.e. engineering, manufacturing, or related)
- Willing and able to travel in order to support business need.
- Ability to work comfortably and safely at elevated heights. Candidates must be familiar with, or willing to undergo training in, the proper usage and maintenance of safety equipment to ensure safe movement and operations at heights.
