Job Summary
Under general supervision and according to established policies and procedures, installs, calibrates, maintains, and repairs electricaland electronic equipment in the plant. Serves as mentor to other employees in the electrician/instrumentation classification. Must have a State Electrical License or ability to apply within 6 months.
Essential Functions
- Troubleshoots calibrates and repairs electric and electronic circuits, equipment, controls, and instrumentation as needed.
- Interprets and works from prints, blueprints, charts, tables, work orders, verbal instructions, and established practices toorganize and complete assigned repair jobs. Solves routine job problems effectively.
- Installs and modifies electrical components and instruments.
- Inspects and services electrical motors, including bearing lubrication and replacement.
- Install power and control wiring including conduit and cable tray.
- Locates, repairs adjusts, and calibrates electric and electronic recording, measuring and indicating instruments with proficiency.
- Performs preventive maintenance on locomotives, generators, traction motors, and related controls.
- May as directed, perform PLC programming.
- Interprets and understands instructions, prints, sketches, and wiring diagrams.
- Responsible for housekeeping and clean-up of immediate work areas or in other areas in conjunction with assigned duties.
- Responsible for documentation associated with job duties.
- As required assists in major plant repair projects.
- As required attend RCRA training for waste-derived fuel activity and perform tasks related to job duties associated with waste-derived fuel activities as required.
- Observes all safety rules, wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and keep work areas and equipment cleanand orderly.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to read and understand instructions and troubleshooting guides. Ability to independently locate and interpret electrical drawings and schematics. Knowledge and understanding of ladder logic in programmable logic controllers. Knowledge andunderstanding of the National Electric Code. Must pass a basic electrical/instrumentation knowledge test. Ability to solve routine electrical and instrumentation problems effectively.
- Must understand and successfully pass all appropriate RCRA hazardous material training and tests. Must successfully complete on-the-job training provided by designated supervision or otherwise qualified individuals.
- Ability to safely and effectively operate mobile equipment such as a forklift, man-lift, and boom truck. Ability to safely andeffectively use screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, hand tools, small power tools, electric drills, electric anchor gun, multimeters,calibrators, amp meter, and related equipment.
- Work requires walking over rough and slippery surfaces; climbing stairs and ladders; lifting, pulling, and pushing movements;working at elevated heights, and working in awkward positions and in confined spaces.
What to expect in a cement environment:
Work to be performed in a shop environment as well as outdoor exposure throughout the plant. Exposure to cement dust, heat, cold, and noise requires compliance with specified safety guidelines and procedures. Exposure to high elevations of up to 250 feet in height. Exposure to all weather conditions. Normal operation of mobile equipment may result in jarring and vibratory exposure.
