Box Truck Driver/Material Handlers are responsible for efficiently and safely loading and unloading trucks and trailers at the warehouse using pallet jacks and forklifts; once complete they are responsible for accurately sorting, stocking, processing, or disposing of the product or material and helping to maintain the organization of the warehouse. This would include donated goods, recycled materials, salvage materials, garbage, and hazardous materials. This position requires the ability to be forklift certified and to safely operate, regularly clean, and help maintain the forklift. Must adhere to all Goodwill Industries of Lane and South Coast Counties rules, policies and safety procedures.



ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Efficiently and safely load and unload trucks and trailers at the warehouses using pallet jacks and forklifts.
Become forklift certified through Goodwill training.
Complete cleaning tasks as assigned; help maintain the warehouses as safe, clean workplaces.
Accurately sorts salvage materials into assigned containers.
Safely and correctly operate the cardboard and trash compactors.
Safely and correctly operate the textile baler.
Drive trucks to stores, ADCs, donation bins, warehouses, and house calls as needed, obeying all traffic laws and following security procedures to protect Goodwill vehicles and property.
Assist in loading and unloading of trailers and trucks at each location. Inspect and verify that each load is secure prior to transport.
Maintain accurate pick-up/delivery records, logs, inspection reports, and incident reports as assigned.
Notify immediate supervisor of any problems or unusual situations, including accidents, driving citations, suspended driver license, etc.
Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly vehicle exterior and interior.
Perform safety inspections at the beginning and end of each shift. Notify immediate supervisor of any damage or needed maintenance.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Ensure compliance with all GILSCC’s policies, CARF standards, and state safety and security regulations.
Must provide identification and eligibility to work in the United States of America.
Must pass criminal background check and pre-employment drug-screening test, and subsequent drug screenings as required.
Must exercise good judgment.
Be flexible in work assignment to accommodate changing production demands.
Must have sufficient command of the English language to communicate with customers, co-workers and supervisors.
Reports for scheduled work regularly and on time. Notifies supervisor as soon as possible regarding the need and expected duration of any absence.
Must be able to perform essential functions of the Material Handler/Baler-Box Truck Driver’s job description task analysis with or without accommodation.
Must be able to follow written or verbal instructions.
Must be able to work all hours of operations and be able to work a flexible schedule.
Must be able to read and write.
Must be able communicate effectively with co-workers and customers.
Must be able to function independently and as part of a team.
Reports for scheduled work regularly and on time. Notifies supervisor as soon as possible regarding the need and expected duration of any absence.
Must not present a direct threat to the safety and health of self, others or to property.
No record or disclosure of criminal conviction that indicates a tendency toward theft, violence, dishonesty, deceit, drug manufacture or sale, moral turpitude, or predatory behavior.

EXPERIENCE

Forklift experience desirable or ability to become Goodwill forklift certified.

 

EDUCATION

Less than high school education; or up to one-month related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must possess a valid state appropriate driver’s license, CDL Class A or B and have an insurable driving record.
