Our Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) Software organization develops next-generation medical technologies that alleviate pain, restore health, and extend life for millions of patients worldwide.

CRM Software is developed using state-of-the-art, industry-standard technologies and is used by clinicians and patients globally. As a Software Engineer II on the CRM Software team, you will develop applications that interface with Medtronic implantable cardiac devices and enable remote management of patients.

As part of the Medtronic Application Services (MAS) team, you will leverage cutting-edge web and mobile technologies to create, enhance, and maintain the Patient Management Software System used by clinicians and patients.

This position is in Mounds View, MN. within the Cardiac Rhythm Management (CRM) operating unit. At Medtronic, we bring bold ideas forward with speed and decisiveness to put patients first in everything we do. In-person exchanges are invaluable to our work. We are working on-site 4 days per week as part of our commitment to fostering a culture of professional growth and cross-functional collaboration as we work together to engineer the extraordinary. This role will require less than 10% of travel to enhance collaboration and ensure successful completion of projects.

A Day in the Life

In general, the following responsibilities apply for the Software Engineer II role. This includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • Take ownership of software features/modules and drive their development through the SDLC.
  • Provide hands-on leadership, coaching, and mentoring to junior software engineers.
  • Collaborate with team members, product owners, and partners across geographies to design and develop solutions.
  • Solve complex technical problems by applying advanced technical principles and concepts.
  • Design, implement, test, debug, and document software solutions while ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and processes.
  • Conduct design and code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices, testing, security, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Contribute to the design and architecture of secure, scalable, and maintainable software.
  • Develop reusable patterns to improve team velocity and encourage innovation.
  • Participate in process improvement initiatives and help document new processes.

Qualifications

Must Have – Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of technical experience, or advanced degree with 0 years of technical experience

Nice-to-Have:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of software design, development, debugging, and testing practices.
  • Proficiency in two or more programming languages/technologies: C#, .NET, Objective C, Python, Xamarin, Angular, HTML, YAML, XML.
  • Familiarity with tools like Visual Studio, Azure DevOps, GIT, and Microsoft Test Hub.
  • Experience with operating systems such as Windows, Android, and iOS.
  • Understanding of cloud infrastructure concepts (e.g., Microsoft Azure or AWS).
  • Experience with automation tools like See Test, Protractor, or Coded UI.
  • Hands-on experience with RESTful APIs, CI/CD pipelines, and relational databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, SQL Server).
  • Knowledge of Agile methodologies, Test-Driven Development, and medical device software design.
  • Clear communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams.
