About the role

Job Description:

Position Overview:

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer with deep expertise in product design and development to join our Power Electronics team focused on renewable energy solutions. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical, thermal, manufacturing, and industrial design to deliver high-performance, manufacturable, and reliable products.

This role requires strong technical capabilities in CAD design, thermal and structural analysis, and a solid understanding of manufacturing processes—particularly for electronics enclosures and systems exposed to harsh environmental conditions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the mechanical design of renewable energy power electronics products from concept to mass production.

  • Develop 3D models and 2D drawings using tools like SolidWorks, with full application of GD&T.

  • Perform thermal and structural FEA simulations to ensure mechanical reliability under environmental stress.

  • Design for manufacturability using plastic injection molding, sheet metal, die casting, and other high-volume production methods.

  • Integrate thermal management solutions for high-power density systems (e.g., heatsinks, airflow, phase-change materials).

  • Collaborate closely with electrical, thermal, manufacturing, and testing teams to ensure design feasibility and product robustness.

  • Manage design reviews, risk assessments (e.g., FMEA), and compliance with environmental standards (e.g., IP ratings, UL, IEC).

  • Support prototype builds, testing, root cause analysis, and continuous design improvement.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.

  • 8+ years of mechanical design experience, ideally in power electronics, or energy products.

  • Proficient in CAD modeling and drawing creation with a deep understanding of GD&T and tolerance analysis.

  • Demonstrated ability to perform structural and thermal analysis using FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS).

  • Hands-on experience designing for manufacturing across multiple processes—plastic, metal, and composite components.

  • Strong grasp of DFM/DFA principles and experience working with suppliers and contract manufacturers.

  • Excellent cross-functional communication skills with a proactive, problem-solving mindset.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience designing enclosures for outdoor, high-voltage, or grid-connected equipment.

  • Knowledge of thermal management techniques for power electronics in solar, wind, or energy storage applications.

  • Familiarity with environmental compliance standards (e.g., IP65/IP67, UL 1741, IEC 62109).

  • Exposure to reliability testing, accelerated life testing, or harsh environment validation (e.g., salt fog, vibration, thermal cycling).

  • Familiarity with high-volume manufacturing and global supplier collaboration.

Why Join Us:

  • Contribute to a sustainable future through impactful renewable energy technologies.

  • Join a passionate and innovative engineering team working on clean energy solutions.

  • Competitive salary, benefits, and opportunities for career growth in a mission-driven company.
