Position Specific Description
The NEER Finance group is seeking a Principal Financial Controller to join the Forecasting Reporting & Analysis (FR&A) Team within the Project Analysis & Reporting (PAR) department. This role involves advanced financial forecasting, reporting, and variance analysis tasks across the entire NEER renewable asset fleet. In addition, the Principal Financial Controller role requires leadership in department-wide initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monthly Operating Reports: Prepare and deliver comprehensive monthly operating reports on the more complex portfolios for our investors and lenders, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in all financial disclosures. Provide timely and accurate responses to inbound inquiries from our investors and lenders.
- Forecast Variance Analysis: Conduct in-depth variance analysis to evaluate project revenue, tax credits, and general administrative forecasts, identifying trends and areas for improvement.
- Forecasting: Develop precise forecasts for revenue, land royalties, G&A (General & Administrative) Expense, and tax credits, supporting strategic business decisions.
- Living Pro Forma Support: Prepare and manage the living pro forma analysis, facilitating robust financial planning and execution.
- Annual Operating Budgets: Prepare annual operating budgets and coordinate the external Independent Engineers reports required under financing agreements.
- NEER/XPLR P&L Analytics: Perform detailed P&L analytics for NEER/XPLR, supporting strategic planning and financial performance reviews.
- Process Improvement: Proactively identify and pursue opportunities for enhancing efficiency and effectiveness within departmental processes and operations. This includes evaluating current workflows and recommending innovative solutions.
- Leveraging Enterprise Technology: Utilize enterprise technologies such as NEE.AI and Alteryx to streamline processes, reduce manual efforts, improve data analytics, and support informed decision-making. This includes understanding and using technology solutions to drive process improvement and innovation.
In this role, the Principal Financial Controller will work closely with teams within PAR, NEER Finance, XPLR, Business Management, FCOE, and Project Valuation to deliver integrated solutions that enhance strategic alignment and operational efficiency.
The successful candidate will have advanced experience in financial analysis and forecasting in a complex environment, strong analytical capabilities, proficiency in variance analysis, and attention to detail, ensuring precision and reliability in financial reporting. The Principal Financial Controller is also expected to demonstrate the following leadership traits:

Job Overview

Individuals provide effective, timely, and actionable financial information and business analytics on the facilities in their portfolios including monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting and analysis on the financial performance of the electric generating facilities, treasury management, as well as ad hoc reporting and analysis as required.
