The Mechanical Engineering department leads in the mechanical hardware design, development, and production of weapons systems. We use state-of-the-art tools, processes, and technology, with capabilities encompassing a broad range of technical disciplines, including product engineering, manufacturing, technical services, materials engineering, analysis and test, rapid hardware development/builds and configuration and data management documentation.

The Rapid Hardware Solutions department is a quick turn organization that performs design and build of prototype hardware, test equipment, trainers, and hydraulics assemblies within the Mechanical Engineering team. 

This position is for a Manufacturing Engineer II whose primary responsibilities include supporting manufacturing development and support equipment hardware in the Rapid Hardware Solutions department.

This position is in Marlborough, MA. (On-site)

This position requires close cooperation with the Operations team and other engineering disciplines including Product Design, Test Development and Test Engineering. The desired candidate will possess superb communication skills and be capable of working in a dynamic team environment.

What You Will Do

  • Interpret manufacturing requirements, develop and maintain Manufacturing Data Packages (MDPs), and document manufacturing practices 

  • Support daily manufacturing areas with process troubleshooting and incorporating Engineering changes into the MDPs 

  • Disposition non-conforming material with root cause and corrective action analysis as required 

  • Work with operators and design engineering on technical issues relating to the production manufacturing process 

  • Drive efficiency through continuous process improvements to improve cycle time, reduce ergonomic risk to assemblers, automate, reduce costs (both direct and indirect), using Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing principles and data driven decision making 

  • Maintain work cell layouts

  • Provide real-time technical support to manufacturers and fabricators, in-house as well as the supply base 

  • Make tooling selections based on technical data package requirements and create process plans

Qualifications You Must Have  

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant professional experience in a manufacturing environment.

  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
    U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience with cable fabrication including point to point, branched harnesses, and radio frequency

  • Experience with automated tooling, machinery, and programming  

  • A continuous improvement mindset to enhance manufacturing methods through process modernization 

  • Sound understanding of statistical analysis techniques 

  • Experience using PRISM (SAP) MRP software and shop floor data management tools
