About the role

General Summary of Position:

The Zuckerberg College of Health Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Lowell is searching for a part-time physical therapy staff member to oversee the clinical practice activities for the UML Student PT Clinic housed within the Department of Physical Therapy and Kinesiology. The clinic serves the UML community (students, faculty, staff). This opportunity will be open for the Fall 2026 semester and beyond. We seek candidates with expertise in general outpatient clinical practice and experience as a clinical instructor to supervise DPT students.
 
Job Duties:
  • Provide quality patient care
  • DPT student supervision, instruction, and feedback
  • Serve as Instructor for Integrated Clinical Education Fieldwork course (DPTH 6440)
  • Oversee PT clinic scheduling and documentation
  • Assess students’ performance, assign grades, document outcomes
  • Serve on Clinic Steering Committee

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Doctor Physical Therapy
  • Physical Therapy License in Massachusetts
  • At least 5 years of outpatient physical therapy clinical practice experience
  • Clinical instructor experience
  • The ability to work effectively with diverse student, faculty, and patient populations

Additional Considerations: (If applicable)

  • Clinical instructor certification preferred
  • Previous DPT teaching experience at the university/college level is desirable
  • Prior clinic management, scheduling, and billing experience

This is a part-time, temporary, non-unit, non-benefited position. 

The clinic will be open Monday through Friday late afternoon-evenings during the fall and spring academic semesters. A total of 3-8 hours per week will involve patient care, DPT student supervision, instruction, and feedback. This staff member will be expected to consult with DPT faculty and serve on the DPT program’s Clinic Steering Committee.
