About the Role:

The Career Coach provides coaching services to assist students in completing their Career Development Portfolios (CDP). This position reports to the campus Executive Director of Career Link Student Programs and works collaboratively with a variety of stakeholders to ensure students meet career planning goals and campus metrics.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Ability to work collaboratively and must demonstrate ability to promote an environment that reflects the broad backgrounds represented by our students and employees in which every individual feels respected and valued.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Ability to deliver clear and relevant career presentations to student groups.
  • Willingness to travel to campuses and professional events.
  • Ability to scale projects within an entrepreneurial framework.
  • Active listening skill to effectively conduct Career Coaching sessions individually and in groups.
  • Customer Service skill to work with various backgrounds represented by our student body, faculty, staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Technology skill to work with multiple computer software programs.
  • Empathy skill to provide a safe, authentic coaching environment for student interactions.

All responsibilities will be conducted within the parameters of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), other applicable regulatory requirements, and professional standards.

Key Responsibilities and Skills:

1. Strategic Planning and Collaboration

  • Skills Needed:
    • Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop campus career coaching strategies and plans in alignment with college goals.
    • Collaboration: Work with the Executive Director of Career Link Students Programs, Systems Office Assistant Vice President of Career Coaching, Employer Consultants, Talent Connection Managers, Advisors, and faculty to deliver effective career planning services.
  • Action: Develop strategies for meeting or exceeding College goals and ensure alignment with campus-wide initiatives.

2. Student Coaching and Career Development

  • Skills Needed:
    • Coaching: Skilled in providing one-on-one and group coaching to students.
    • Tracking and Organization: Ability to monitor and track student progress in implementing their Career Development Portfolio (CDP), ensuring that students complete key milestones such as resumes, LinkedIn profiles, mock interviews, and work-and-learn experiences.
  • Action: Guide students through career development steps, ensuring they meet key academic and experiential milestones, such as employer connections or mock interviews.

3. Career Exploration and Employer Engagement

  • Skills Needed:
    • Teamwork: Expertise in collaborating with colleagues to ensure students engage with employers through mock interviews, career fairs, and work-and-learn opportunities.
    • Career Coaching:  Maintain current knowledge of labor market data, wage information, and career exploration tools.
  • Action: Partner with campus stakeholders to facilitate student participation in career exploration activities, pre-Ivy Tech experiences, and career-specific orientations.

4. Program Promotion and Campus Integration
