Software Engineer

DESCRIPTION:

Duties: Execute software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting. Gather, analyze, synthesize, and develop visualizations and reporting from large, diverse data sets in service of continuous improvement of software applications and systems. Proactively identify hidden problems and patterns in data and use these insights to drive improvements to coding hygiene and system architecture. Guide and assist others in the areas of building appropriate level designs and gaining consensus from peers where appropriate. Collaborate with other software engineers and teams to design and implement deployment approaches using automated continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines. Collaborate with other software engineers and teams to design, develop, test, and implement availability, reliability, scalability, and solutions in their applications. Implement infrastructure, configuration, and network as code for applications and platforms. Understand service level indicators and utilize service level objectives to proactively resolve issues before they impact customers. Support the adoption of site reliability engineering best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum education and experience required: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field of study plus 5 years of experience in the job offered or as Software Engineer, Lead Software Consultant, Sr. Software Developer, Sr. Analyst Software Engineering, Sr. Software Engineer, or related occupation.

Skills Required: Requires experience in the following: Linux; Unix; Agile SDLC; Waterfall SDLC; Hybrid SDLC; Application Architecture Disciplines; Java; Javascript; Python; Shell Scripting; SQL; XML; Apache Tomcat; JSON; AWS Cloud Services; Application Monitoring Tools such as Apica/AppDynamic/Dynatrace or related; Oracle; Splunk; Functional Testing; Manual Testing; Regression Testing; Smoke Testing; System Integration Testing; Unit Testing; User Acceptance Testing; and Batch Applications.

Job Location: 600 Travis, Houston, TX 77002.  Telecommuting permitted up to 40% of the week.
