The University of Texas at Austin invites applications for a two-year lab manager position in the Department of Human Development and Family Sciences. The lab manager will be supervised by Dr. Brian P. Don, and will support a research laboratory examining how positive affective processes, meditation and mindfulness, and parenting processing contribute to the wellness and development of intimate relationships and families. This position is ideal for a developing scholar who hopes to develop their research skills, particularly in the areas of social psychology, family psychology, and psychophysiology.
Responsibilities
Train and coordinate personnel who are involved in lab activities, including undergraduate research assistants
Manage data collection, including participant recruitment, scheduling, consent, retention, and compensation
Employ data quality checks and analysis
Assist with key administrative tasks, such as IRB applications, ordering supplies, scheduling meetings, and monitoring budgets
Administer and manage laboratory equipment, including computers, video equipment, psychophysiology equipment and software (Biopac, Mindware, AcqKnowledge)
Assist in the preparation of empirical manuscripts for publication at scientific journals
Required Qualifications
B.A. in Psychology, Human Development and Family Studies, or a related field (degree must be completed by start date)
Excellent time management and organizational skills
Experience with psychological, developmental, or other social science research
Familiarity with SPSS, R, or other statistical software
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with psychophysiological research and equipment, particularly related to the autonomic nervous system and using Biopac systems
Working knowledge of Spanish
Prior experience collecting data in community-based settings

$60,000
