Job Summary
May Mobility is seeking a Senior Field Autonomy Solutions engineer who will work closely with cross-functional teams to triage and resolve complex technical issues while effectively communicating their impact across the organization.
Additionally, you will play a key role in enhancing internal workflows, using your expertise to guide tool development and solutions that drive operational efficiency.
The role includes significant travel – up to 50%.
Essential Responsibilities
- Engage with current and potential stakeholders to establish technical assessments, demonstrate value and generate insights for autonomy improvement
- Interface with cross functional leaders to ensure solution roadmaps capture business and customer needs
- Identify and utilize GIS (Geographic Information Systems) technology and/or equivalent tools to improve current processes for identifying routes, regions, and roadways fitting within May Mobility’s Operational Design Domain
- Present verbal and written technical communications on behalf of May Mobility to current and prospective customers, partners, public officials and policymakers, and external stakeholders
- Demonstrate autonomous technology for May stakeholders including members of the public, press, current and potential customers and partners, policymakers, other VIPs
- Travel to active and prospective operational sites for evaluation of May’s AV product offering
- Provide support to deployed AV operations and actively drive resolution to problems and deficiencies in the AV deployment
- Leverage fleet data and simulation results to guide performance improvements
- Coordinates and develops the on-site configuration and deployment of autonomous technology in new locations
Qualifications and Experience
Candidates most successful in this role typically hold the following qualifications or comparable knowledge or experience:
Required
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, especially with specialties or course work including Computer Science, Robotics, Transportation Engineering, or Operations Engineering, related technical discipline, or equivalent experience in urban or transportation planning
- Minimum 5 years experience in a technical role or roles
- Minimum one year experience in a customer-facing role
- Superb oral and written communication skills
- Demonstrated project management experience
- Exceptional organizational and interpersonal skills
- Willingness to travel up to 50% as needed, within and beyond the United States
- Ability to pass a driving records check
- Active US Driver’s License (or ability and willingness to obtain one)
- Familiarity with basic principles of mobile robotics
- Ability to comprehend and communicate technical concepts across a variety of audiences
- Demonstrated ability to innovate and drive continuous improvement
- Ability to create clear and informative visualizations, including maps, charts, and graphs, to communicate geospatial analysis results to diverse stakeholders
Desirable
- Prior experience in Robotics and/or Autonomous Vehicles
- Prior experience in a technical sales or solutions engineering role
- Experience creating insights from diverse data and statistical tools
- Experience operating in a Linux environment and using basic Linux command line utilities
- Experience using Git and GitHub or Gitlab
- Experience reading, debugging, and writing code in Python, C, and/or C++
- Experience with software simulation suite
