AR Coating Team Leader

Team Leader – AR Department

The Team Leader will support Management in ensuring that all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are followed, staff members are properly trained, and equipment is well maintained. This role requires learning all aspects of AR lab operations in order to provide assistance at any station when needed. Additionally, the Team Leader will help identify and troubleshoot quality issues to maintain high performance standards.

Primary Duties

1. Floats in the AR/HV department to help at any station to meet business needs based on management direction 
2. Communicates any operation, quality, or safety issues to management
3. Verifies equipment is ready for operation before the start of the shift
4. Maintain hourly production goals
5. Handling flammable/corrosive materials daily
6. Ensure lenses are clean of dust and debris
7. Operate the backside coating Machine
8. Operate the Oven to cure the coating
9. Operate the stripping machine to strip lens coating or coating from racks
10. Reject bad coating on lenses
11. Help with routing work in the AR-Preparation room
12. Set up lenses in racks, and feed racks into the hard coat dipping machine.
13. Inspection, sorting, washing, and prepping lenses for AR coating.
14. Machine maintenance, including cleaning and scrubbing of exterior machine parts. Cleaning and scrubbing inside of the machine.
15. Maintains the workstation clean and organized

Secondary Duties

1. Be able to multitask, as required by workflow or Lab Manager
2. Light record-keeping on machine maintenance
3. Maintain the cleanliness of the lab
4. Perform duties as requested by the Supervisor and Lab Manager
5. Maintain the machine clean inside and out
6. Maintain workstation and work areas clean and organized
7. Prepping machine parts for maintenance

Education

• High School Diploma or GED

Experience

• Experience in the Optical Industry as it relates to ophthalmic lenses is desired.

• Able and willing to work as a team
• Demonstrated Leadership abilities.
• Skill in organizing resources and establishing priorities
• Troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance techniques and practices
• Ability to work with Computer/Electrical Controlled equipment
• Must be able to read and understand technical data provided for the role
• Experience working with computer programs 
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment 
• Ability to troubleshoot 
• Good communication skills and a team player
• Knowledge of planning and scheduling techniques
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing 
• Ability to read technical documents and manuals and extract information for required repairs of equipment

• Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
• Respond to emergencies as required; coordinate activities with other responders; identify and coordinate resources to effectively repair and ensure the safety of the facility
• Knowledge of safety equipment and practices related to the work, including the handling of hazardous chemicals and lock-out/tag-out procedures
• Basic Computer skills (Windows, MS Office, Excel)
• Basic Math
• Must be able to work Overtime, Saturdays and Sundays, and some holidays when needed
