Compensation Range: $22.18 to $31.05 per hour 

 
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION: The primary function of the Certified Nursing / Medical Assistant is to support servicing of the health needs of the school site, relative to both personal attention and in-service trainings.
 
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: None
 
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Ensures that all actions are in concert with the Board policies as well as the mission statement, beliefs, objectives, and parameters found in the Board's strategic plan.
  2. Participates in job training and professional growth opportunities in order to enhance ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
  3. Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
  4. Maintain required health records under the supervision of the building nurse.
  5. Assists Certified School Nurse to maintain lines of communication with teachers and other school personnel in order that cooperative action will meet the needs of the students.
  6. Assists with sick or injured students, administering minor first aid in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  7. Accepts delegated tasks from licensed nursing staff in accordance with scope of practice and board policies and procedures.
  8. Assists students in managing their diabetes in accordance with their Individualized Diabetic Care Plan.
  9. Helps to obtain and update health records, and ensure accurate computerized data entry in regard to immunization dates, health examinations and medical condition codes
  10. Collaborates with community contacts to assist in the coordination of medical services for students.
  11. Assists the Early Childhood Department in the development and implementation of systems to transition children and families from the Early Intervention system into the Early Childhood program.

QUALIFICATIONS: High School Diploma or GED required. Certification as a Nursing Assistant (CAN) or Medical Assistant (CMA) with CPR/AED certification required.

  6. Ability to remain discreet, to handle issues of highly sensitive nature, while  ensuring confidential information is not disclosed without appropriate authorization.
  7. Ability to work effectively independently, with minimum supervision, and under pressure.

WORK CALENDAR: 12 Months
 
WORKING CONDITIONS: 
Moderate in-district travel as well as intermittent in-state and out-of-state travel.  Intermittent prolonged and irregular hours of work.
