Job Summary

The Logistics Analyst III is a senior supply chain professional responsible for independently analyzing, optimizing, and supporting complex logistics and transportation operations. This role applies advanced analytical expertise, deep understanding of logistics networks, and sound business judgment to improve service performance, control costs, and enhance end‑to‑end supply‑chain efficiency. Working under limited supervision, the Logistics Analyst III has a direct impact on operational reliability, working capital, and customer satisfaction and may provide guidance to less experienced analysts.

Job Description

Role Overview
The Logistics Analyst III serves as a key analytical and operational resource within Logistics or Supply Chain Operations. Compared to intermediate roles, this position regularly handles non‑routine logistics issues, owns complex analyses, evaluates trade‑offs, and drives improvements across transportation, distribution, and inventory flow. The role collaborates closely with Transportation, Distribution, Warehouse Operations, Planning, Procurement, Customer Service, Finance, and external partners to deliver data‑driven solutions.
The position typically reports to a Logistics Manager, Supply Chain Manager, Distribution Manager, or Senior Operations Analytics leader.

Key Responsibilities
Advanced Logistics Analysis & Optimization

Independently analyze complex logistics data related to transportation, distribution, inventory flow, and service performance
Identify trends, root causes, and systemic issues affecting cost, service, or efficiency
Develop actionable insights and recommendations to improve network performance
Evaluate trade‑offs between cost, service, capacity, and risk

Transportation & Distribution Performance Management

Analyze carrier performance, lane utilization, transit times, and service levels
Support optimization of routing, mode selection, and carrier strategies
Lead analysis for freight cost control, productivity improvements, and capacity planning
Partner with carriers and third‑party logistics providers to resolve performance issues

Cost Management & Financial Impact

Perform detailed analysis of freight spend, accessorial charges, and cost drivers
Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for logistics costs
Identify and quantify savings opportunities and track realized benefits
Collaborate with Finance to ensure accurate logistics cost reporting

Inventory Flow & Network Support

Analyze inventory movement across plants, warehouses, and customers
Support improvements to inventory positioning, lead times, and replenishment flows
Identify logistics‑related inventory risks or inefficiencies
Coordinate with Planning and Operations to support network balance and service goals

Process Improvement & Continuous Improvement

Identify gaps, inefficiencies, or risks in logistics processes and controls
Lead or support continuous improvement initiatives (e.g., kaizen, lean, optimization projects)
Support implementation of new logistics tools, reports, or systems
Contribute to standardization of logistics metrics, methods, and best practices

Stakeholder Collaboration & Advisory

Partner cross‑functionally to support operational decisions and strategic initiatives
Communicate complex analyses and recommendations clearly to stakeholders
Support escalation and resolution of non‑routine logistics issues
Provide informal guidance or mentoring to Logistics Analyst I–II roles


Scope & Impact

Impact is at the functional or multi‑site level across logistics and supply‑chain operations
Work includes non‑routine, judgment‑based analysis and decision support
Influences logistics cost structure, service reliability, and operational efficiency
Contributions directly affect customer satisfaction, working capital, and profitability


Qualifications
Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, Finance, Analytics, or related field required
Several years of experience in logistics, transportation, supply‑chain analysis, or operations analytics preferred
