As a key member of the senior leadership team, the EDES leads educational transformation efforts aligned to CEC’s mission of providing all students—regardless of background or circumstance—access to college and career pathways.

This leader ensures high-impact teaching and learning, compliance with state and federal program requirements, and strategic use of data and analytics to inform decision-making. The EDES also oversees the integration of future-focused learning practices, personalized learning models, and the innovative application of technology and research-based practices that accelerate student success.

Essential Responsibilities

Strategic Academic Leadership & System Innovation

  • Lead the design and implementation of transformational academic models, including blended, hybrid, and personalized learning approaches.

  • Develop and execute academic strategies aligned with CEC’s vision for early college, career-connected learning, and student-centered education.

  • Collaborate with Heads of School and instructional leaders to develop future-ready competencies, micro-credentialing opportunities, and rigorous postsecondary pathways.

  • Cultivate partnerships with institutions of higher education, workforce partners, and research organizations to enhance opportunities for students and staff.

Instructional Excellence & Educator Development

  • Oversee instructional coaching, professional learning, and educator development initiatives that build capacity for equitable, high-quality instruction.

  • Develop systems of support for instructional leaders and staff aligned to CEC’s educational priorities.

  • Ensure alignment of instructional materials, pacing guides, and assessment practices to Colorado academic standards and CEC performance goals.

  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and collaboration across instructional teams.

Federal Programs & Grants Management

  • Serve as the network’s lead administrator for federal and state-funded education programs (e.g., Title I, II, III, IV, IDEA, ESSER).

  • Ensure full compliance with all reporting, auditing, budgeting, and documentation requirements related to federal and state grants.

  • Identify new funding opportunities and lead the development of grant proposals that align with organizational priorities.

  • Work in collaboration with finance, operations, and school leaders to ensure equitable distribution and strategic use of funds.

Data Strategy & Performance Analytics

  • Build and lead a network-wide culture of evidence-informed decision-making.

  • Oversee the implementation and use of data systems, dashboards, and analytics tools to monitor instructional effectiveness, student achievement, and equity of access.

  • Partner with the CEO to design KPIs and monitor academic progress, learner engagement, college course completion, and credential attainment.

  • Provide actionable insights and predictive analytics to inform strategic planning and drive continuous improvement.
