Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineering Lead – Electrical/Controls to oversee the design, coordination, and integration of electrical and control systems for large-scale data center construction projects. This role plays a critical part in ensuring electrical infrastructure and building automation/control systems meet design standards, operational reliability, and project timelines. The ideal candidate will be technically proficient, hands-on, and capable of leading engineering teams and vendor coordination throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the electrical and controls engineering scope on data center design and construction projects.
- Coordinate with design consultants, contractors, commissioning agents, and internal teams on power distribution, backup systems, grounding, and control system architecture.
- Review and approve electrical drawings, panel schedules, one-line diagrams, BMS/SCADA layouts, and sequences of operation.
- Oversee integration of power systems with building automation (BMS), controls (PLC, DDC), and monitoring systems (DCIM).
- Ensure alignment with applicable codes, standards, and client specifications (NEC, NFPA, ASHRAE, Uptime Institute).
- Support procurement, submittal review, and vendor engagement for major electrical/control components (switchgear, generators, UPS, control panels, etc.).
- Conduct constructability reviews and support issue resolution in the field.
- Participate in Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and commissioning activities.
- Drive quality control, schedule alignment, and coordination between electrical trades and other disciplines (mechanical, structural, IT).
- Mentor junior engineers and support internal technical development.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Controls Engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years of experience in electrical or controls engineering, with at least 3+ years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Strong background in data center, critical infrastructure, or large-scale industrial construction projects.
- Proficiency with electrical and controls design tools (AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam), and understanding of PLC/BMS integration.
- Familiar with control system protocols such as Modbus, BACnet, OPC, SNMP.
- Solid understanding of power systems (MV/LV), standby power, and control strategies for mission-critical environments.
- Experience in working with hyperscale or colocation data center clients is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication, team leadership, and project coordination skills.
