Job Overview
The Director in the Office of Graduate Careers – in a senior role in Georgetown Law Center’s Office of Graduate Careers (OGC) - manages OGC’s digital communications (newsletter, website and social media accounts), oversight of all the data analytics of the OGC’s team and managing all aspects of the annual Taxation Interview Program, as well as any other career fairs or on-campus interviews organized for graduate law students. As well, they manage marketing and outreach for LL.M. and other graduate degree programs to legal employers, including overseeing summer employment outreach.
Further, the Director provides career and externship-related direct counseling to more than 700+ U.S. and Foreign-Trained residential and executive graduate students and alumni; and develops career-related programming for these students, including skills workshops, panel discussions, and information sessions.
In addition to supporting the career counseling and externship needs of the Law Center’s large graduate student population and alumni, the Director develops job, internship and externship opportunities for LL.M. students; conducts outreach and marketing to potential employers; and develops and manages career-related programs.
The Director serves as the liaison to the Office of Career Strategy and the Director of the National Security Law program; and because they manage and administer all aspects of the Taxation Interview Program, they also work closely with the Director of the Graduate Tax Program.
Further, because they provide career and externship advice to Foreign-Trained LL.M. students, the Director also work closely with the Office of Graduate and International Programs.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Supervise and manage OGC’s Recruitment Coordinator
- Manage and implement all aspects of the Taxation Interview Program (TIP) and any other career related interview programs organized for graduate law students
- Lead annual summer employer outreach efforts
- Develop, update and maintain OGC career resources on website and social media accounts
- Develop, coordinate and implement career related programs and workshops throughout the year to assist graduate law candidates on their job searches, career planning and professional development
- Provide individual and group counseling and career development and externship assistance to graduate law students and alumni on job search strategies.
- Working with the Recruitment Coordinator, track and manage statistics and analytics, including employment outcomes through interview programs and the Post-Graduate Plans Survey, student interactions with OGC and at events, and report statistics to the Associate Dean and Program Directors.
Work Interactions and Work Mode Designation
Reporting to the Assistant Dean of OGC, the Director has senior role in the Office of Graduate Careers, which additionally includes two Associate/Assistant Directors. and a Recruitment Coordinator. The Director supervises the Recruitment Coordinator.
The Director serves as the Graduate Careers liaison between the Office of Career Strategy the National Security LL.M. program; manages and administers all aspects of the Taxation Interview Program, working closely with the Tax LL.M. program; and provides career and externship advice to Foreign-Trained LL.M. students, working closely with the Office of Graduate and International Programs.
