The Maintenance Technician 1 is critical to safe and efficient Operations.  The Maintenance Technician 1 will be required to perform Routine Preventative Maintenance, basic Mechanical Troubleshooting and Repairs of our Facility Assets, Production Equipment and Conveyance Systems with the support of Senior Technicians and Leadership.  The Maintenance Technician 1 must take responsibility for the safety, quality and timely execution of these support services which include, but are not limited to: Mechanical Equipment, Forklifts, Electrical, Plumbing, Grounds and General Maintenance. 

Essential job functions:

 

  • Completes Work Orders, Preventive Maintenance, Corrective Repairs and other written or computer-based documents.
  • Performs Preventative Maintenance and Repairs on Production Equipment, Grounds, Building Equipment and PIT (Powered Industrial Truck).
  • Learn and utilize software, databases, and technical platforms including Auto CAD and Fusion 360.  Basic computer proficiency, MS Office proficiency and ability to navigate internet and intranet for research frequently.
  • Works closely with other Technicians to ensure proper operation of Facility related equipment through means of Mechanical/Electrical trouble-shooting. 
  • Completes general facility maintenance Tasks which may include, but are not limited to mechanical, piping, welding, metal fabricating, minor building construction projects, carpentry, and grounds care with quality workmanship.
  • Performs exterior touchup painting and interior painting.
  • Assist in completing assigned Engineering and Quality functions such as Prototyping, Experimentation, Data Collection, Time Studies, Safety and Quality Assessments, and Reports and Documentation (e.g. Nonconformance, Capital Expenditure Authorization, Purchase Requisitions, Request for Quote, Process Sheets, Safety Training Checklists, and others)
  • Support Custodial Maintenance as needed for janitorial, spill/hazard response and snow removal needs.
  • May include Machine Operation or general production activities as directed according to business needs.
  • May Participate in cycle counts and year-end physical inventory.
  • Performs general housekeeping and Continuous Improvement activities.
  • Adheres to all Department and Company Standards, Operating Procedures and Safety Requirements.
  • Notify leadership immediately of any observed compliance gap to codes, standards and regulations (state, federal, or local)
  • Identify hazardous conditions and practices and immediately respond to (if trained) and report any unsafe physical conditions or unsafe work practices to site leadership.
  • Treats others with respect and conducts themselves in a positive and inclusive manner daily. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

EDUCATIONAL & Experience REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 1 years of related experience/education in mechanical and or digital machine operation required.

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Basic Mechanical Troubleshooting
  • Basic Electrical Troubleshooting
  • Basic Controls Troubleshooting
  • Basic Computer Aptitude / Proficient in MS Office
  • Ability to consistently enforce LOTO and all other safety protocol 
  • Ability to work independently in the absence of supervision
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed
  • Ability to work at heights from ladders and aerial lifts
  • Maintain current certifications:
    • Bloodborne pathogens
    • PIT 
    • Respirator
    • Fall protection

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. 
  • Ability to participate in a team lift of 50 lbs. 
  • Able to sit, stand and/or walk for entire shift
  • Comfortable with frequent ladder use
  • Able to turn or bend 
  • Able to crouch, crawl and climb
  • Able to grip/grasp frequently
  • Able to reach/pull frequently

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • May work in a high noise environment
  • May work in a wet environment
  • May work indoors in a warm, humid environment
  • May work in a cold environment
  • May work in a dusty environment
  • May work in outdoors/non-climate-controlled environment 
  • May handle or have exposure to chemicals, cleaning agents, and fumes
  • May work around machinery with moving parts
  • Required to wear Long Pants 
  • Required to know & don PPE applicable to work-center which may include:
    • Chemical Resistant or disposable Apron
    • Chemical Resistant Gloves & Arm Guards
    • Cut Resistant Glo
