Job Details

The Director, Solutions Development- Pharmacy and Emerging Therapies is responsible for product and program management of a portfolio of solutions that create new sources of income.

This role is responsible for driving innovation and commercialization of products that enable growth for Cencora and its health system customers. This role works closely with commercial business unit leaders to ensure alignment, execution and adoption of solutions and initiatives.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Has ownership for solution development of high impact products and commercialization of new offerings that meet customer needs while creating new sources of income for Cencora, and achieving goals set for new income sources.
  • Under guidance of VP, Portfolio Strategy, ensures solution ‘builds’ are in alignment with overall business and Cencora strategy.
  • Continuously evaluates ideas within the Innovation process, quantifying market demand, defining opportunities and identifying product/market fit for Cencora.
  • Define and track success metrics through Objectives and Key Results (OKRs).
  • Keeps all new projects in line with the company’s purpose and maintains consistency with the company’s message and brand.
  • Within their solutions portfolio, follows customer responses to new ideas, tracks and analyzes the success of new programs, and adapts according to customer adoption.
  • Uses influence and organization to leads cross-functional teams, motivating others to support solution development.
  • Within their solutions portfolio, monitors research and development of other organizations to spot trends in innovation and supplement research findings in the company’s industry. Uses this data to educate sales, adjust strategy, and support Cencora’s ability to win.
  • Develops go-to-market strategy, value proposition and messaging, partnering with commercial partners (marketing, communications, sales, commercialization) to make Cencora a market leader in given solution space.
  • Provides feedback to leadership on the progress of innovation and recommends adjustments to the pace or direction of new projects as needed.
  • Performs related duties as assigned

Experience and Education:

Normally requires broad training in fields such as business administration, product management, marketing or similar vocations obtained through completion of bachelor’s degree program; Requires a minimum of five (5) years related experience, such as lifecycle product management.

Progressively responsible experience in the pharmacy operations or healthcare and related customer base is preferred.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Superior research and analytical skills to track and predict trends, and experience translating an idea into a sound business case with financial projections.
  • Ability to utilize domain expertise to understand and document customer needs and translate those into solutions that deliver exceptional customer value.
  • Define and develop go-to-market strategies that enable successful organizational adoption of solutions to include positioning, messaging and pricing.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing and leading complex cross-functional projects.
  • Well organized with demonstrated success in planning and managing multiple projects simultaneously and ability to demonstrate keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to assess changing conditions, values and needs of the customer; ability to conceptualize, develop and lead the effort required to support change.
  • Must be capable of understanding and applying an industry-wide perspective on major trends, including customer, regulatory, technology, and distribution channel changes; identifies implications for business unit initiatives.
  • Demonstrate strong critical thinking and expresses ideas clearly, concisely and logically.
  • Ability to make balanced and insightful decisions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with others.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of various management principles; solid understanding and support of Cencora policies, philosophy, goals and objectives in order to integrate a complementary management network.
