Community Corrections – Residential Staff

Hamilton County Community Corrections announces an opening for a Living Unit Coordinator Team Leader.  The agency, located in the 4th largest county in Indiana, is directly north of Indianapolis in the county seat of Noblesville.  Hamilton County Community Corrections is a community-based supervision agency operating a Residential Level of Supervision for adult males and females, as well as an Electronic Monitoring Level of Supervision that serves adults and adolescents.     

The Living Unit Coordinator Team Leader position is responsible for coaching, mentoring, and directing assigned personnel as well as maintaining security and order within the residential facility.  Primary responsibilities include planning/delegating work assignments, providing on-boarding, training and corrective instruction, coaching, mentoring, evaluating performance, maintaining discipline, and communicating/administering personnel policies and agency policies.  Duties also include, but are not limited to, maintaining security and order within the facility and responsible for participant accountability while in the facility.  The position will have direct interaction with participants daily.  This interaction includes participation on treatment teams as well as modeling and reinforcing positive behavior.

Qualified applicants should have a minimum of a high school degree with significant work experience. They should be able to demonstrate a strong working knowledge of evidence-based practices, able to demonstrate leadership ability and explain their leadership style/approach. They must also possess a valid Indiana driver’s license and demonstrate a safe driving record.  The full-time position is classified as a POLE J and has a beginning salary of $54,058.16 ($25.98 hourly).  An excellent health care plan that includes medical, dental, vision and pharmacy coverage for employees and their families is included.  Other benefits provided include a retirement plan, deferred compensation, as well as paid vacation time and paid holidays.

Incumbent serves as Team Leader for Community Corrections, responsible for maintaining security and order in the facility, and supervising assigned shift personnel.

DUTIES:

Supervises and directs shift personnel, including orienting new personnel, scheduling/delegating work assignments, maintaining proper staffing levels, authorizing leave and overtime, reviewing time sheets, evaluating performance, providing training and corrective instruction, ensuring compliance with department policies and procedures, and initiating disciplinary action as needed.

Serves as a coach and mentor for professional staff in teaching department procedures related to working with participants.

Maintains interior security of facility, including monitoring surveillance cameras, door controls, meals, and visitors, conducting patrols and routine searches of all dormitories and searching participants for contraband. Maintains accurate accounting of all participants.
