What You'll Do:

You will own the monthly and quarterly debt accounting close process, prepare journal entries, reconciliations, and debt issuance-cost tracking, and supporting the debt rollforward and footnote disclosures for external financial reporting. You will partner with the Debt Accounting Manager, Treasury, Technical Accounting, and external auditors to ensure debt balances and related disclosures are recorded accurately and in compliance with US GAAP and SOX requirements. In this role, you will need to be detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable managing recurring close deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

About the Role:

The ideal candidate has a strong foundation and hands-on experience with debt or treasury-related accounting, and the ability to manage a structured monthly and quarterly close cycle with a high degree of accuracy. This position provides the opportunity to gain exposure to debt rollforward schedules, footnote disclosure drafting, SOX control documentation, and audit support in a high-growth environment.

In this role, you will:

  • Prepare monthly journal entries related to debt facilities
  • Record cash receipts and payments related to debt activity and track and accrue debt issuance costs
  • Confirm payment postings align with bank remittances
  • Prepare monthly debt account reconciliations (GL vs. sub-ledger) and cash account reconciliations tied to debt activities
  • Investigate and clear reconciling items on a timely basis
  • Prepare the quarterly debt rollforward schedule and draft footnote disclosure language for financial statements
  • Prepare and maintain documentation for key debt-related SOX controls and complete control testing evidence packages
  • Respond to internal and external auditor requests related to debt accounting as needed
  • Prepare monthly journal entries related to derivatives and hedging programs 

Who You Are:

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3-5 years of general accounting experience; debt, treasury, or corporate accounting experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of US GAAP as it relates to debt accounting (interest accrual, issuance cost amortization, and rollforward schedules)
  • Strong reconciliation and account analysis skills, with the ability to research and clear discrepancies independently
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to meet recurring monthly and quarterly close deadlines
  • Experience supporting SOX control documentation and testing
  • Experience collaborating with auditors, treasury, and cross-functional accounting and finance teams

Preferred:

  • NetSuite (or similar ERP) experience
  • Experience in a high-growth or pre/post-IPO environment
