The SR400 Express Lanes Project is a transformative $4.6 billion infrastructure initiative led by SR400 Constructors, a 50/50 joint venture between Flatiron Dragados and ACCIONA. Commissioned by the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) and Georgia State Road Tollway Authority (SRTA), the project will add two 16-mile express lanes from Sandy Springs MARTA Station (Exit 5) to McFarland (Exit 12), enhancing mobility along one of Georgia’s busiest corridors. With a peak workforce of over 500, the project also includes dedicated bus rapid transit stations and key bridge refurbishments. Construction is set to begin in late 2025, with substantial completion anticipated in 2031.
The Survey Party Chief is responsible for leading field geomatics operations, ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance with company and industry standards. They manage and train Geomatics Operators, oversee data collection and analysis, and maintain precision in field operations. This role includes supervising staff, managing advanced geomatics equipment, and ensuring quality control in collected data.
Job Description
Field Leadership: Provide tactical guidance to ensure that field operations align with the strategic goals of the Geomatics Department, focusing on efficiency, safety, and compliance with company standards.
Team Leadership: Train and lead Geomatics Operators and craft employees in the proficient use of Geomatics equipment, fostering a team environment that values precision, safety, and productivity.
Data Collection and Analysis: Oversee the collection of site-specific data, perform complex mathematical calculations, and validate raw data for accuracy. Generate comprehensive field notes and reports that are critical for project progression.
Equipment Management: Responsible for the setup, operation, maintenance, and tracking of all Geomatics equipment on-site, including GPS systems, data collectors, digital levels, total stations, and Grade control systems.
Field Operations Supervision: Supervise field staff in executing Geomatics tasks, ensuring that operations run smoothly and meet project timelines and quality expectations.
Technical Proficiency: Leverage your in-depth knowledge of Geomatics principles to solve field problems, adapt methodologies to project needs, and ensure technical standards are met.
Quality Control: Implement and enforce quality control procedures in the field to uphold reliability of all Geomatics data collected.
Technology Adaptation: Stay informed about emerging Geomatics technologies, integrating new tools and techniques to enhance field operations and data collection efficiency.
Required Skills and Competencies
Experience:
At least 7 years in construction Geomatics, with substantial experience using advanced Geomatics tools and Grade control on heavy civil projects.
Demonstrated ability to manage field teams effectively, showing leadership in challenging construction environments.
Leadership Skills: Proven track record in leading and motivating teams, with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities in field conditions.
Project Focus: Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on understanding and meeting project requirements to deliver quality Geomatics services.
Technical Proficiency:
Extensive experience with field Geomatics software, equipment, and methodologies, including modern instrumentation.
Profound knowledge of construction plans, specifications, and Geomatics calculations.
Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, essential for coordinating with project teams and documenting field activities accurately.
