Staff Accountant

Alpinestars is seeking a skilled Staff Accountant to support key accounting functions, including monthly close processes, journal entries, reconciliations, and general ledger analysis. This role also handles sales tax, payroll entries, audit support, and special projects. Ideal candidates have 2–3 years of accounting experience, strong Excel skills, and thrive in a team-oriented, deadline-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities

• A key contributor to the monthly close process
• Preparation of journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations
• Analyze general ledger accounts, identifying necessary accruals, adjustments, and reclasses
• Work with Controller to ensure tasks are completed in line with weekly and period end close schedules
• Assist with financial statement inquiries at a store and corporate level
• Prepare sales tax calculations and periodic sales tax returns
• Prepare payroll entries and balance sheet reconciliations, working with the payroll team to resolve discrepancies
• Compile schedules and necessary supporting documents for audit requests
• Work with senior accountant and accounting manager on special projects, ad hoc analysis and reporting

Required Skills

• A Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
• Expanding proficiency with Excel and its functions
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to pick up computer programs quickly
• Attention to detail
• Works well in a team environment, helping others troubleshoot issues or challenges
• Willingness to work the hours necessary to get the job done in a deadline driven profession

Experience Desired

• 2-3 years of accounting experience, preferably with multi-unit industries
• Minimum 1 year of experience with a heavy focus on general ledger accounting
• Prior experience with financial reporting a plus
