The Role

*This is a 2nd shift position * As a Leader in Warehousing and Distribution, you will be responsible for the operational function at our distribution center. This position may manage a group of salaried and hourly employees on assigned shift. Demonstrates creativity, initiative, and integrity to support and ensure quality and timeliness of shipments to customers with minimal guidance from superintendent or plant manager. You will model GM’s cultural behaviors and demonstrates the highest level of integrity at all times in addition to the following:

What You'll Do (Responsibilities):

  • Build and maintains good working relationships with employees, union representatives, and management team

  • Monitors safety and good housekeeping standards

  • Participates and provides input during selection of new employees

  • Monitors daily productivity and quality requirements to achieve customer expectations

  • Communicates effectively with employees, leaders, business partners, and customers

  • Cultivates a safety culture, and implements and enforces workplace safety rules and policies

  • May evaluates team performance, and promote continuous improvement

  • Achieves quality standards by communicating goals and leveraging resources to solve problems

  • Understands and consistently administers company policies


Supervision and Leadership:

  • Oversee and guide daily operations within the warehousing facility. 

  • Lead, train, and evaluate a team of supervisors and support staff.

  • Foster a positive and collaborative team environment.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and industry regulations.


Inventory Management:

  • Monitor and manage inventory levels to maintain optimal stock and minimize overages.

  • Implement and uphold inventory control procedures to ensure accuracy and efficiency. 

  • Conduct regular inventory audits and resolve discrepancies promptly.


Quality Control:

  • Establish and maintain high-quality standards for product.

  • Perform inspections and quality checks to ensure compliance with specifications.

  • Address and resolve quality issues effectively and promptly.

  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance quality and performance.


Inbound Receiving:

  • Supervise the receiving of inbound shipments, ensuring accurate documentation.

  • Inspect incoming parts and materials for quality and correctness.

  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to resolve discrepancies or issues.

  • Ensure proper storage and organization of received items.


Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and industry standards.

  • Conduct regular safety audits and training sessions for staff.

  • Address any safety concerns or incidents promptly.


Timeliness and Customer Satisfaction:

  • Ensure the timely processing and shipment of orders to customers.

  • Monitor and optimize workflow to meet delivery deadlines.

  • Collaborate with the logistics team to improve shipment processes.

Additional Job Description

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • 3+ years of experience within a leadership role

  • 5 years related experience in a Warehouse, Supply Chain, or Operations environment

  • Must be willing to work 1st or 2nd as dictated by the business

  • Must be willing to work overtime (including weekends as needed)

  • Computer skills to develop, maintain, and analyze data

  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities

  • Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office Suite

  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment

What Can Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience

  • Previous supervisory experience in a union environment

  • Global Manufacturing System Knowledge and execution experience

  • Problem-resolution/Labor Relations experience
