The purpose of this job is to provide technical assistance and engineering support to the manufacturing group. Additionally, to improve existing processes, develop new and cost-effective manufacturing concepts, as well as train production operators, and engage maintenance personnel in resolving equipment problems using systematic methods of troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and irreversible corrective action implementation. The Senior Process Engineer will be assigned to support any and all functions of the manufacturing areas.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Duties and responsibilities are functions of the job and should not reflect the special talents or performance of an employee.
- Improve existing processes, develop new and cost-effective manufacturing concepts, lead scrap reduction teams through lean methodologies, and actively participate in value improvement projects.
- Provide technical assistance, process development and engineering support to the manufacturing floor to include Extrusion, Secondary Operations, and packaging areas to ensure timely delivery of product while meeting customer expectations on cost and quality.
- Engage maintenance personnel in resolving process, and equipment problems using systematic methods of troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and irreversible corrective action implementation.
- Lead flawless launches of new product activities through active participation in FMEA, PFD, part and tool design reviews, Kaisen and other cross-functional team events.
- Drive validation and qualification (IQ/OQ/PQ) protocols for new product, equipment, tooling and processes as directed.
- Follow SOP on re-validation of existing equipment, tooling and processes.
- Work closely with internal and external Project Engineers in developing processes that meet customer expectations on cost, quality and delivery of new product development.
- Document lessons learned and report status of all projects and assignments in a timely manner.
- Generate, update and implement process documentation, to include PCO’s, operator work instructions, manufacturing procedures, sample requests, process, inspection and troubleshooting guides.
- Close assigned CAPA’s in a timely manner.
- Complete projects and report status in a timely manner. Utilize project management tools in establishing timelines, building action item list and completing milestones.
- Understand and follow the SOP’s pertaining to the specific area.
- Understand and follow the work instructions pertaining to the specific area.
- Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Assists cost accounting in establishing new or revised standard costs for new or existing product lines.
- Support the coversion of small –scale processes into commercially viable large-scale operations.
- Performs other required duties as needed in addition to the essential duties and responsibilities described above.
DESCRIPTION OF MARGINAL DUTIES:
- Observe and promote company standards and policies on safety, quality and productivity
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- The employee will constantly be exposed to working near moving mechanical parts with frequent exposure to risk of electrical shock. The employee will occasionally be exposed to wet humid conditions, working in highprecarious places, fumes or airborne particles, or travel on company business. The employee will rarely (if ever) be subject to toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level is considered loud, if near operating production equipment.
Tools/Equipment used:
- Constant use of hand/power tools and machine equipment, with frequent use of maintenance shop tools.
- Use of pallet/hydraulic jacks.
Protective Clothing/Equipment Required:
- The employee will be required to wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment such as; safety glasses in the designated area
