Overview

Reports to: Senior Cost Analyst

FLSA Status: Full-Time, Salaried-Exempt

Normal Working Hours – Office Hours: 8 am to 5 pm, Monday through Friday

Position Objective: As a Jr Cost Analyst at Joeris, you will support financial oversight of construction projects by analyzing costs, tracking variances, and maintaining budgetary controls. This role combines analytical expertise with collaborative project support to optimize profitability and ensure accurate financial reporting. You will conduct cost analyses, assist with WIP reporting, evaluate subcontractor performance, and work closely with project teams to drive financial efficiency while upholding Joeris' values and quality standards.

Cost Analyst Responsibilities:• Collaborate closely with project management to track and forecast construction costs across multiple projects.• Develop, monitor, and refine project budgets to ensure alignment with contractual agreements.• Prepare cost variance analyses, identifying risks, and communicating them to management.• Evaluate actual vs. estimated job costs to identify trends, recommend process improvements, and optimize profitability.• Support the preparation of Work-in-Progress (WIP) reports and conduct detailed reviews for accuracy.• Analyze subcontractor and vendor performance for cost efficiency.• Work in partnership with project management to expedite financial closeout of projects.• Assist in job cost audits as required.• Prepare monthly allocation for internal distribution of overhead costs to jobs.

Staff Accountant Responsibilities:• Record, reconcile, and maintain general ledger accounts in accordance with GAAP.• Manage receivable processes, including monthly A/R entries, compliance and collections.• Prepare monthly journal entries, accruals, and other adjusting entries to support month-end close.• Work collaboratively with the finance team to ensure compliance with tax reporting requirements and assist in budgeting.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field• Audit experience with CPA firm (Strongly preferred)• Experience with construction preferred but not required

 

SKILLS

• Team-oriented approach with the ability to work independently when required• High attention to detail; must possess the confidence that work product is accurate and complete• Initiative and problem-solving capabilities to address complex cost and accounting challenges• Knowledge of Viewpoint Spectrum ERP or similar construction accounting ERP• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including conditional formulas and formatting• Emotional intelligence
