ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Demonstrates interdepartmental interpersonal relationship skills. Works effectively with management and staff.
a. Offers constructive suggestions at staff meetings for utilization of supplies.
b. Demonstrates positive regard for changes.
c. Reviews surgical schedule daily with OR Service Line Coordinator to anticipate inventory needs.
d. Participates in 2:00 pm OR Huddle
e. Participates in weekly inventory meeting.

2. Controls Operating Room inventory- direct and outside.
a. Makes regular rounds in surgical suite and of specialty carts to anticipate inventory needs.
b. Inventory is current and rotated.
c. Notifies Nurse Managers and Materials Management and Service Line Coordinators of obsolete inventory.
d. Orders stock via Meditech.
e. Maintains correct locations for supplies in Meditech.
f. Counts OR Inventory once a year.
g. Coordinates development of departmental inventory levels of supplies and equipment.
h. Stock shelves to assure appropriate inventory/par levels are consistently met.
3. Complies with accreditation and regulatory bodies and commissions in relation to OR Materials Management.
a. Makes decisions based on experience and knowledge of supplies.
4. Responds to Materials Management.
a. Follows up on back orders.
b. Informs Nurse Managers and Director of Surgical Services and Service Line Coordinators of problem areas.
c. Performs all responsibilities required by Materials to assure unique nature of client is addressed.
d. Participates in projects or committees as volunteered or assigned.
e. Demonstrates willingness to assume other activities relative to the department's needs.
f. Responsible for providing appropriate and timely delivery of supplies and equipment.
g. Works with BioMed department to assure all patient care equipment has preventive maintenance performed according to inspection schedule and along with coordination of repairs.
h. In coordination with BioMed assists in the delivery retrieval, and tracking of equipment.
i. Available by wireless telephone during work hours to respond to the needs of the OR and CPD.
5. Maintains Tissue Log for all Tissue and needs to be tracked according to FDA.
a. Complete Tissue Tracking Forms.
b. Enter Tissue into log upon arrival.
c. Maintain tissue tracking system.
d. Serves as a member of the hospital Products & Standards Committee and other projects or committees as volunteered or assigned.
6. Coordinates and Counts yearly IR and CPD Inventory.
a. Prepares count sheets to ensure all items and locatiosn are correct.
