About the role


The Early Learning Business Navigator facilitates the recruitment and business development of early learning professionals. This position may provide individual and group support to individuals who are starting or growing their early learning program. This position will focus on building relationships with the early learning community and community partners to identify, navigate, and develop solutions to barriers in opening and/or expanding early learning programs, increasing the number of successful early learning programs in the region.

This position will be in Yamhill County.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Associate's Degree in business, marketing, accounting, business management, early childhood education, or related field. A Step 9 in Oregon Registry Online may substitute for an Associate's Degree.
  • Two years of experience owning and operating a business, or experience successfully coaching/consulting for businesses/individuals focused on business practices.
  • Two years of experience working in early childhood learning.
  • Equivalent combination of education or experience may be accepted.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

  • Driver qualifications required for this position. Valid driver license, insured vehicle available for use on the job, and a satisfactory drive record for the past 3 years are required.
  • Successful registration with the Central Background Registry of the Child Care Division.
  • Candidate must pass pre-employment and random drug screenings.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of business operations and administration.
  • Ability to use equipment necessary to carry out job responsibilities such as, but not limited to, computer and virtual training software such as Zoom and PowerPoint, early childhood management software, Google Sheets, and more.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and effectively manage time.
  • Ability to build collaborative partnerships with stakeholders, and provide services that are culturally competent and appropriate to the needs of the target audience.
  • Ability to communicate formally and informally with a wide range of contacts and demonstrate empathy, and friendliness in dealing with people under stressful conditions, either by phone, through video or in person.
  • Ability to navigate building and zoning codes to support educators in assessing readiness for licensing.
  • Ability to create ongoing trusting relationships with early education programs to develop the most conducive environment for learning and reflection.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES This job description is not intended to be all-inclusive. Employee will also perform other reasonably related business duties as assigned by immediate supervisor and other management as required.

  • Recruits and supports the onboarding of family child care providers and child care centers to participate in CCR&R services and receive business resources and support.
  • Develop resources to support programs in navigating building and zoning codes to support educators in assessing readiness for licensing.
  • Develop relationships with community partners including city, county, state agencies to support the start-up and retention of early learning programs.
  • Develops coaching relationships with selected early learning programs to help programs gain business acumen to enhance business practices, knowledge, and skills to manage their business and increase quality.
  • Manages informational events by facilitating and planning outreach events, workshops, and scheduling informational sessions. Acts as the point of contact for the day of the event.
  • Assists early learning program leaders in acquiring the resources to implement quality business practices in their early learning program.
  • Supports intentional quality improvement in early learning programs.
  • Facilitates the assessment and resolution of specific concerns: program/organizational, staff, or child/family related issues.
  • Collects and shares identified program and teaching practice data to support early learning program and system improvement.
