About the role

Clean Harbors located in La Porte, TX is looking to add a Facility Technician to the team. The Facility Technician for La Porte TX will be responsible for completing all assigned warehouse duties in a safe and responsible manner. This role will train to perform rail technician duties and vac water technician duties. The rail car role will involve physical climbing into rail cars, properly connecting hoses, washing out solvent tankers via the gamma jet system, and directly communicating with oil/solvent drivers coming into the rail yard. The vac water technician role will involve offloading vac trucks into our mix pit, pumping off different phases (oil, water or solids), loading tankers of separated vac water, solidifying the pit when sludge accumulates, and overall taking care of the vac water area (housekeeping).

**This position will be outdoors, you must be willing to work in heat and weather conditions.

Shift: Days- M-F 6:30am-3:00pm; Potential OT and possible Saturday shifts

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensuring that Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes and acting in a safe manner at all times;
  • Climbing rail cars to connect hoses and wash out solvent tankers;
  • Offloading vac trucks into the mix pit by connecting hoses and working in the mix pit after offloading to solidify mix;
  • General housekeeping and keeping a clean work area;
  • Ensure waste is stored in safe and proper manner.

What does it take to work for Clean Harbors?

  • Valid Driver’s License, acceptable MVR is required for this role as you will drive company vehicles:
  • HS Diploma or equivalent required;
  • 1 plus years of related labor and computer experience;
  • Rail car and/or vac truck experience is a plus;
  • Forklift skills preferred.
