Description

This role will be in the IT Applications Engineering team. The successful candidate will be able to design technical architecture, develop and implement solutions that span multiple platforms including integration and authentication across systems.  This role is accountable for managing the full development lifecycle to ensure the delivery of highly secure solutions, optimized for performance, resilience and built to scale and contributing towards Verily’s mission of advancing precision health by closing the gap between research & care.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain cloud-native applications on GCP, ensuring their scalability, high availability, and fault tolerance.
  • Develop and drive the adoption of core cloud provisioning systems (e.g., Terraform, Atlantis, Google Cloud tooling).
  • Integrate Google Cloud services with our core IT management systems, leveraging Terraform templates and creating or modifying scripts that integrate with 1st party and 3rd party operational and observability tools.
  • Implement CI/CD pipelines for cloud application deployment, ensuring security and compliance standards.
  • Provide troubleshooting expertise for cloud applications and collaborate with cloud platform teams for issue resolution.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • Practical experience and/or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • 3+ years of experience in Terraform development and testing with 5+ years of experience in programming in at least one of the following: Go, Python, Rust, BASH, Typescript, Java.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven experience in developing, deploying, and maintaining applications on GCP.

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience working with Google Cloud and Kubernetes.
  • Certification in Google Cloud Platform (such as Associate Cloud Engineer, Professional Cloud Architect, or Professional Cloud Developer).
  • Experience designing, implementing, and managing complex distributed systems in a public cloud environment (GCP).
  • Proficiency with GCP services like App Engine, Compute Engine, Cloud Functions, BigQuery, and Cloud Pub/Sub.
  • Experience writing technical documentation or building codelabs.
  • Familiarity with the GCP SDK and tools such as gcloud.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $148,000 - $227,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
