The Senior Director of Consumer, Category & Shopper Insights will create and lead the development of Momofuku’s insights function, uniting external data with internal culinary expertise to build a strategic advantage. This role is responsible for integrating consumer, category, and shopper insights across innovation, digital, brand strategy, channel planning, and customer storytelling. The ideal candidate will be as comfortable digging into syndicated data as they are sitting with chefs to decode flavor trends and will play a key role in shaping how Momofuku shows up in the market.

Salary Description: $185,000 - $205,000 annually + bonus + company stock options

Responsibilities:
INSIGHTS STRATEGY & LEADERSHIP
- Build a comprehensive insights function that blends internal, culinary, and external data sources.
- Translate insights into brand, digital communications, product, and commercial strategies that drive action across teams.
- Serve as a strategic partner to executive leadership across innovation, marketing, sales, DTC, and product.
CULINARY + COMMERCIAL INTEGRATION
- Partner with our Culinary team and Product Development to bring Momofuku’s flavor and cultural POV into insight driven innovation.
- Identify whitespace and flavor trends that sit at the intersection of taste, behavior, and category dynamics.
CONSUMER & CATEGORY INSIGHTS
- Lead qualitative and quantitative research to inform positioning, messaging, and concept planning.
- Analyze syndicated data (e.g., SPINS, NielsenIQ, Numerator) to identify performance drivers, pricing/pack trends, and category opportunities.
- Deliver monthly updates on category trends and consumer behavior to internal stakeholders.
SHOPPER & CHANNEL INTELLIGENCE
- Develop shopper profiles and journey mapping by retail format (e.g., Costco, Target, Amazon, Sprouts).
- Guide channel strategy by surfacing trip missions, regional nuances, and value perceptions.
- Support pricing, merchandising, and assortment strategies using retailer data and analytics.
SALES ENABLEMENT & STORYTELLING
- Partner with Sales and Marketing teams to build insight-led sell-in stories for retailers and brokers.
- Develop customer-facing tools, decks, and messaging that elevate Momofuku’s brand and value proposition in line reviews and pitch meetings.
- Support post-launch evaluation and performance recaps with insights to inform iteration.
TOOLS, PARTNERSHIPS & INFRASTRUCTURE
- Manage insight vendors, data subscriptions, and research agency relationships.
- Recommend and implement scalable tools and dashboards for cross-functional insight access.
Required Qualifications:
- 10+ years in consumer & shopper insights, shopper marketing, category strategy or analytics roles within the food & beverage industry
- Deep knowledge of research methodologies, syndicated data tools (SPINS, NielsenIQ, Numerator), and shopper
- analytics platforms
- Proven success supporting cross-functional teams and commercial outcomes with insight-driven strategies
- Strong visual storyteller who can turn data into belief-building narratives
- Entrepreneurial spirit, cultural curiosity, and a passion for building brands with soul
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in both a Fortune 100 food/beverage company and a high-growth challenger/startup brand
- Expert in consumer behavior, retail environments, and data synthesis
- Cross-functional operator who can collaborate across Product, Sales, Marketing, and Operations
- Strategic mindset with hands-on execution abilit
